Pele played for New York Cosmos;
Beckham played for LA Galaxy;
Messi is now playing for Inter Miami;
USA hosted FIFA World Cup in 1994.
But soccer has always been overshadowed by the Big 3 in American sports - American football, basketball, baseball.

Conservatives i.e. Republican supporters have always hated soccer, calling it a sissy's sport - the same way /k branded pickleball.

But now something happened...
- Trump and FIFA boss have become BFF
- Trump participated in World Cup draw
- He was awarded FIFA Peace Price

Come next summer, I suspect FIFA will tell the referees to 'help' USMNT.
If USMNT make it to quarterfinal, or even semifinal, American conservatives will finally embraced soccer...

No more soccer though in US, Trump want's it to be called football and NFL needs to change. Maybe American Rugby?

Unlikely unless soccer runs like their big 3, with many downtime and ads in between.

Fifa scores an own goal with its World Cup ticket prices
Next year’s tournament in North America is turning into an elitist spectacle

NFL more action lar...fast paced also and higher scores...If u watched football, sometimes 90 minutes no goal at all....ball get kicked up and down the field, but no goal action for 90 minutes...Also NFL games their camera angle nicer...

To be frank, US already hosted WC back in the 90s when Clinton is the president...Soccer is not new over there lar....but soccer will always be behind footie, baseball and basketball...There is simply more money with footie, baseball and basketball due to their history....

Clinton was Democrat. Trump is a republican. That's a big difference.
Republicans, and especially Maga-ists, even if they still prefer NFL, would at least stop ridiculing soccer as a sissy's sport.

Sports is sports..nothing to do with Blue vs Red...

If u hv watched NFL games, u will definitely see why soccer is considered less physical...The blitz the tackles in NFL is way way more brutal than soccer lar .....Also NFL has a very wide appeal in US coz every season there is only like 16 regular season games...Soccer has so many games in a season, so dilute the value...

USA is capitalist, sports is for business and to make money, soccer is losing money for billionaire

Nobody want to fight Arab prince throwing unlimited money. It's like local JDT vs other states. Other state cant even afford to pay salary because owner wealth disparity raise mean salary.

Talking about brutal, boxing was the most popular sport in the US 50 years ago, more so than NFL.
