KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang tops the list of MPs with the highest absenteeism records from Dewan Rakyat sittings, according to Calmic's Malaysian MP Dashboard.

The attendance rate was tallied based on Parliament records.

The PAS president and Marang MP had an attendance rate of just 29.8%, or 67 out of 225 days.

Second on the list was Deputy Prime Minister and Bagan MP Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, with an attendance rate of 30.2% from 68 out of 225 days.

In third place was Sembrong MP Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, who recorded an attendance of 36.4% having attended 82 days.

Aside from Abdul Hadi and Hishamuddin, other MPs who made up the list were either Cabinet members or state leaders.

Other MPs on the list were Penang Chief Minister and Batu Kawan MP Chow Kon Yeow (83 days); Defence Minister and Kota Tinggi MP Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin (86), Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister and Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing (90), Foreign Minister and Rembau MP Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan (92), Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar and Port Dickson MP Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (95), Housing and Local Government Minister and Teluk Intan MP Nga Kor Ming (96) and Selangor Mentri Besar and Gombak MP Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (99 days).

According to the dashboard, the total salary and allowance received by the 222 MPs in the Dewan Rakyat from the day they were sworn in amounted to RM322,152,892.

This includes their base salaries of RM 25,700 per month, ministers' salaries and allowances, monthly fixed allowances (for entertainment, travel, fuel, etc.), as well as attendance-based allowances such as Parliament sitting allowances (RM 400 per day) and Government meeting allowances (RM 300 per day).

The Prime Minister takes no salary while Cabinet members are subjected to a 20% pay cut.

MPs who scored perfect attendance records include Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, Alor Setar MP Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamuddin, Ketereh MP Datuk Khlir Mohd Nor, Sibu MP Oscar Ling, Bagan Serai MP Datuk Idris Ahmad, Labis MP Pang Hok Liong, Jerai MP Sabri Azit, Kampar MP Chong Zhemin, Dungun MP Wan Hassan Ramli, Kuantan MP Wan Razali Wan Nor, Kuala Krai MP Abdul Latiff Abdul Rahman, Kuala Kedah MP Dr Ahmad Fakhruddin Fakhrurazi and Lumut MP Nordin Ahmad Ismail.

Other low attendance understand lar especially those with ministry post.

He got no ministry post, nor state ministry post too.
He got very active jalan jalan in his area ar?
If not, really tidur at home so much?

Parliament MP should be attending debating regarding country direction and law pass. It their job.

Should pass a law any attendance below certain % cannot run for next election. Only with valid reason like those got ministry post or with sudden serious sickness can bypass this law.
Anyway, need to make a prerequisite all potential MP must pass basic medical test before contest in election. Old and nyanyuk candidate should retire and take a rest and give those able to lead the country

Holy crap! I didn't know MP got this kind of perk some more. Bersangka baik, he is trying to reduce our country financial burden by not going to Parliament since it will cost tax payer money :lol2:
