Hi sifus,

I was in a car accident on 27th Oct, got rear ended by Hilux, and causes me to rear ended the car in front. The Hilux guy said we can claim his insurance since it's his company car. Then he call his friend to arrange to tow my car to his friend workshop, his friend will settle all the necessary document with the police (sergeant keputusan etc), I just have to pass them a copy of my police report and necessary documents.

On 1st November, my car was transferred to another workshop under the same company, due to his friend workshop is not AIA panel workshop. Adjuster visited the workshop on 10th Nov. Foreman told me the repair would takes 3-4 weeks. Since then, I tried to check for updates through whatsapp, no response. So I visited the workshop weekly to chase for update/progress. Visited 3-4 time since, was given different reasons for the delay. I checked with my agent, he said the workshop missed out some documents not submitted. My last visit on 27th Nov, they told me still waiting for documents from his boss. My car has been sitting there for a month now, with no progress whatsoever. In the meantime, I have to borrow car from my parents for work, which they kept nagging me about the inconveniences.

For the inconveniences I caused to my parents daily routine, their nagging, and stress from my work recently, I'm feeling really exhausted and burnout....
I have been patience for their none response and dilly dally. But I started feeling impatient as time goes by, I decided to file a formal complaint to AIA yesterday, now waiting for AIA response. I have checked with my trusted workshop, they can settle my car in 2-3 weeks time, but they are not panel though. So I wanna ask, except the insurance company, any other relevant authorities I can file complaint to?

Already claiming the guy insurance why need to deal with him or his friend workshop regardless if the friend workshop is AIA panel or not?

After make police report, go to any workshop panel you like, take your pick from the panel workshop list. Deal with your insurance with the police report. Pass your keputusan police to your insurance. They will not deduct your NCD.

Your car repair if involve insurance SHOULD NOT be involving the other party. Just do your own part…

You can tarik keluar and send to other shop .just notify the insurance. Btw car accident usually 2-3 month only can kautim .because foward and backward between insurance and workshop takes time . example. Shop submit a list need parts need replaced , insurance company slash the list, say some parts need to be reused (repaired). Than workshop counter offer new list until insurance approved ,only than works start . Only when workshop get approval letter from insurance than only they start order parts and repair.

Some workshop do have faster job as they pay first than claim later from insurance. But rarely nowdays have this anymore since insurance can slash payment .🤣

U can pull out your car and repair yourself. Get your insurance agent to charge the bill to the other party so your ncd won't get impacted.

Firstly, if you intend to lodge a complaint, I am sure you are dissatisfied and want an outcome from the complaint. With this type of cases whereby the workshop takes a long time to repair your car, I'm afraid this sort of complaint won't incur much damage to the workshop, if any. It's not like they are going to get fined by the insurance company or authorities, perhaps just a verbal or written warning at most I suspect.

The most you can do if you want to complain is to post a negative review of the workshop on Google Maps or somewhere else, and negative ratings will reflect on their incompetence. FWIW it's important to select good workshops that deal with accident repairs as some or most of these workshops have poor workmanship and customer service. If unlucky, your car will be stuck for a long time in the workshop. Good workshops will not only repair your car within a short period but the workmanship will be good also, and any minor flaws in the repair they will fix it for you without any hesitation. I have encountered some of these workshops where the boss himself is very friendly and helpful and the car was delivered within a short period, about 1 week only if I'm not mistaken and the damage can be said to be rather major.

To avoid such complications in the future, check reviews of the workshop that you intend to send your car for accident repairs on Google maps. Those bad workshops would have many negative reviews and it is hilarious to read some of the comments posted in those section by owners who have sent their cars there.

What is the name of the workshop? Just an example, here is a link to a workshop with poor reviews. You can post a negative review of the workshop which you had an unpleasant experience with here.

Tbh U really need to have a workshop that U are close and arrange Ur car to go back to your own workshop and let them do the task. Trust other workshop really risky coz U dunno how efficient is their progress. Like above reply say, it's possible to tow it back to other as long as U got the funding from the other party insurance.

There are risk too what are they gonna do to your car without U knowing it. Switching genuine part to cheap part might happen also

It was transferred out from his friend's workshop to AIA panel workshop under same auto group which is close to my house coincidentally. But it could happened to any shady panel workshops out there, so we as consumers, what can we do?
