Guys, When merging into high speed lanes such as merging into the highway or merging from RnR into the highway please buildup speed and merge like a zip wothout the traffic slowing down bcause you merge too slow Dont be a sohai This post has been edited by zib5: Dec 2 2025, 07:11 AM

Yes, I do this. I would leave the merging lane open infront of me, look at the speed of the car on the lane behind me, then accelerate to match speed, then merge.
I do get occasional idiots honking from behind because I left that empty road infront of me. But I don't care.

Yes, merge with signal light without slowing the ongoing traffic and speed. Weak cars non confident drivers just stay out

it'a all about anticipation. the mearging process starts even before u reach the merge. u read the speed of ongoing mainroad speed, & anticipate when is the opening for u to slot in, all while in a smooth flowing moving state, not stationary.

Alot of sohai dun like to step on the pedal because they think they will lose a ton of fuel. So they just santai-santai lek lu sapkok lu as long as they are already in front, if u terlanggar them its ur fault

this is what grind my gears. i encounter a lot of idiots who merge like this red car. instead of using all the space of the provided dedicated ramp into merge, i encounter a lot of stupid drivers stop right at the junction to wait for meege openning. worst of all, it distrupt the flow for the cars behind who accelerate into the the merge. the correct way is slowly merge, switch 1 lane by 1 lane but malaysians style from what i saw it, once exit...they HAVE to be at the fast lane directly no matter what

Not all people can judge relative speed to flowing traffic. Whether incoming car up to highway speed, cars on left lane should have moved to right lane to make transition even smoother. The car on the left lane should adjust his vehicle to match the traffic on right lane and merge to the right. This is easier to do because sometimes merging lane sometimes is not long enough and some car has problem to build up the speed especially heavy vehicle.
This is the correct method to ensure smoother flow of traffic.

In US, you get a fine for not ramping up to speed in the merge lane to the main highway/freeway...
hence most cars there are powerful, you need to be able to build up speed
all the little cars below 150hp makan tahi liao if you dun rev hard

I also do that It's common sense
But I see those driving long time still duno this tactic
Don't follow too close to the car in front if ur lane is not moving fast. So at least when u see a gap to overtake on the lane beside, u can at least have some space to move forward first and transition into the traffic ,not just block the road with the bonnet
Only driver who are stupid think all the gaps need to be filled. .
Btw some ppl reli sohai they turn into a lane and take sweet time to drive off causing ppl behind to brake hard
