In the Philippines, a massive corruption scandal is triggering street protests and putting pressure on the government of Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

The population’s increasing exposure to typhoons, floods and rising sea-levels has seen the government allocate $9.5bn of taxpayer funds to more than 9,800 flood-control projects in the last three years.

But recent audits reveal widespread cases of structures being grossly incomplete or non-existent.

Multiple government officials are accused of pocketing huge kickbacks, funding lavish lifestyles.

101 East investigates how the most vulnerable are being flooded by corruption in the Philippines.

It's an endless circle of family dynasty. There will never be a change, not now, not in next 5-8 decades either.

Even if there's internal implosion, be it within the family, or the people's uprising, the next puppet will be placed immediately by the 'you know who' to safeguard their geopolitical interest in SEA and the area surrounding.
The puppet will also be from one of the family members because everybody in gov also from the same clans.

The whole system is a joke; heck, even their terrorist org name is a joke. Of all the menacing names they could pick, the chose the acronym MILF

There is a big difference in punishment though.
If officials get caught , it is beheading for entire family incl extended ones during ancient times.
Modern day prc if got caught for corruption, its death punishment by shooting.
You look at ex Selangor MB, Khir Toyo, convicted for corruption, just 12 months jail. 6 months later , he was out on parole.
Jibby punya case lagi teruk laa.

Our punishment system is too lenient. So not every country is the same.

I would agree punishment system is lenient,.and let's be real la

In the past officials get beheaded, even for the small things and a lot of the ruler rather all the accused get beheaded then get one wrong.a lot more innocent die more than corrupt officials.

Modern times, President Xi did fight corruption by sending them to get pewpew and at the same time even send his political rival to death under the accusations of corruption. So corruption or just a tools to whack political rivals or disloyalty among the ranks.

Every country the same I meant people in power and rich always get away with it. The Helang protect each other, they know they will get in the same problem in the future.

You want justice? You want people pay their due? Sorry la ini bukan budaya Kita, budaya Kita "cash is king"
