bamboo burns after reaching a threshold temperature, if i'm not wrong it is around 200-300C. Your lemang bbq doesn't reach that temperature. But the fire is caused by the netting burning continuously and hit the threshold.

bamboo is not entirely to blame, but it is one of the risks. The big fire is unfortunately an adage of Murphy's Law.
