It depends, sometimes I also worry about our HR guys.

In raw scholastic ability, guys like this would be heads and shoulders above the rest.

And yet, we are asking those middle rung guys to filter out guys who would be ranked above them if they were in the same classroom? Machiam tak kena.

edit: he might have farked up his interview, but frankly 3.93 cgpa, UM should get into the shortlist at least. how many guys like this do you actually get in a year?

I don't see anything wrong with him. He's just sharing the reality that even getting good grades it is not easy to get hired. Lots of applicants fighting for 1 job. The hiring manager needs to like u. Sometimes if a team many guys, HM might just pick a girl who has lower grades To balance out. Many factors not just grades

i when hiring frsh grad most of the time i dont look at cgpa. anything above 3.0 is already good enough. its just a fine line between 3.0 and 3.5 and 4.0 - diff uni diff courses diff standards. I dont expect fresh grad to be industry problem solvers - u can gain that by experience.

1) attitude - teachable, humility, honesty
2) agility - quick thinking, multi-approach, think out of the box
3) basic knowledge of course taken
4) relevancy of final year course to position/job scope
5) communication - tone, speed, slang. point in team-work is language cohesions where everybody can understand each other. even if u speak queens english not necessary message will pass over effectively.

You need to understand that many here have inferiority complex inherited from their school days. Hence when they hire, they avoid hiring people who are smarter than them. Their own egos cannot take it.

I hire those with great attitude to learn. But most of them 1st class. I only 3rd class. At least I feel they can make my life easier if they no attitude
