I believe the AI holographic avatar in Blade Runner has better chance than a robot in the near future, which has lots of mechanical challenge, costly to maintain, and requires lots of power to operate. In fact, with today's technology, they probably let you wear a VR glasses to see that AI generated avatar, once they can solve the problem to make the VR glasses have enough resolution to look real enough.
