Your right, its a good competent cooler and it is still premium brand. Just that in terms of performance other cheaper brands has caught up, NH-U12A is single tower so it will lose cooling vs dual towers like PA120 but its lighter (less sag) and has much better tall RAM compatibility so as long as it can keep that 9800x3d within temps (and it does!) you dont have to sweat paying more for it as theres pros & cons.
*
noctua eventhough single tower, but it have total 14 heatpipes with 2 backup fans. PA120 dual tower and has total 12 heatpipes. haha. previously i also compared both brand. but decided to choose noctua

my early build pc i use thermaltake sonic tower. fanless cooling tower for my athlon rolleyes.gif

Seconded on Thermalright, I got Peerless Assassin last year when my AIO decided to die and was pleasantly surprised that it's good cooling even on sustained workload.
*
how long your AIO survive? nowadays many brands offered AIO type. i decided not to have AIO since it is involving in pumps, cooling liquid, radiator, etc. its prone to fails and expensive replacement

Not with current price. Only good hardware without the performance to back it up.

https://www.noctua.at/en/expertise/guides/n...formance-rating

About NH-D15S performance which is less performance than NH-D15 G1.

Thermalright Royal Pretor 130 review (around RM190-200) :
https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/...or-130-review/2

Also, Phison E31T controller from that SSD is DRAMless crap too.
*
with this current price, whats your preferred build? mind to share?

also can explain more about phison E31T? DRAMless? i so confuse with current technology term. haha

Whether it’s a decent build depends on your use case. Whether it’s gaming, editing, Local LLM, etc.

Even with gaming, the resolution and frame rate also matters.

Personally for me which use case is 100% gaming at 1440p or 4k, I’d get a better gpu for that budget.

i believe the frame rate is not noticeable as i casually play games. haha. if its smooth, graphic cun, then ok. if for work, yes all those will matter

previously i build, only for speed for overclocking the athlon. as during that era, so craze this amd vs intel. saying athlon is a hot processor compared to less hot intel

for gpu selection, its either 5070ti and 5090. as 5080 i believe the performance wise is between 5070ti and 5090. not much difference

same like ryzen 7 9800x3d, ryzen 9 9900x3d and ryzen 9 9955x3d

better select between 9800x3d or 9955x3d

but it depends on your pocket as well laugh.gif

Your G4 Plus Gen5 SSD is DRAMless so roughly comparable topline Gen4 SSD like 990 Pro, if not slightly worse because its your only OS boot drive and DRAMless.

If it was purely for gaming,
You actually get noticeable performance improvements between a 5080 and a 5070ti, especially when overclocked.
There is pretty much no gaming performance difference between a 9800x3d and a 9955x3d.

For optimized games, you won’t notice the frame rate.
But for unoptimized UE5 games at higher resolution, it might count.

just enjoy your rig, welp you bought it and now probably too late to change your mind about the parts,
after 1 or 2 years, swap with batter parts

honestly, the parts are going to last
they're not best, but not bad either
maybe DRAMless SSDs now not as unreliable as they were in the past, plus this Kioxia SSD uses TLC instead of the cost cutting QLC. 1200TBW for a DRAMless 2TB is unheard of, it's matching SSDs with DRAM already. last time we used to say DRAMless SSD has lower lifespan than with but now no longer the case.

Problem is even DRAMless Gen5 SSD is expensive, for that price one could get a topline Gen4 SSD with DRAM like WD850x or 990 Pro at the same capacity which will be a lot better even if the 'on paper' speed is less than that G4 Plus.

Lifespan is one thing but the problem is OS drive will write & read continuously so a DRAM buffer is needed. Not to say DRAMless is useless but only purpose would be as storage and not as OS boot drive.

Higher 6C VRM temps and only loses 20 Cine2024 points at 100Mhz lower CPU boost. Even then still well within thermal limits. Here is the summary of this mobo:
"In terms of performance, the Pro X870-P WiFi worked well. General performance was excellent, VRM thermals were solid, and the board was stable with DDR5-8000 memory, even pushing up to 8,100. Overall, the Pro X870-P WiFi is a decent motherboard. Depending on which features are most important to you, it could be a good alternative to other entry-level boards."
