If you are in no hurry to sell your cars, then you can slowly take your time to sell them on your own as surely this way will get you a higher price. It may take a bit more effort as mentioned above but if lucky, you may find a potential serious buyer and hence a quick sale without much fuss. If you want to cut all the hassle, you can of course trade it to the salesperson of the new car which you plan of buying. I previously do it this way as I traded in my car to buy a new car. Save all the hassle. Of course the trade-in price will be lower.

Also, if the car has a defective or damaged part which requires a high cost of repair, it may be wise to trade-in the vehicle to the used car dealer than selling it yourself.
