According to the post, the group had made their reservation one month in advance and paid a RM100 deposit. They opted for the à la carte menu, which the restaurant had confirmed prior to the visit. As they had already eaten earlier, they ordered modestly, which are two cocktails, one bottle of Aqua Panna and four food items.

The diners described the meal as generally average, noting that certain dishes. such as the smoked duck breast, felt underwhelming. During the evening, the restaurant also presented a small birthday cake and brought the group to its champagne room for photos, which at first appeared to be a thoughtful gesture.
Discovery of miscalculation

The bill for the night came to RM517.32 after tax. After deducting their RM100 deposit, they paid RM410 before leaving. It was only the next day that they noticed a discrepancy, although they had ordered two cocktails, the bill reflected charges for three. The additional cocktail, priced at RM58, became the centre of their inquiry.

Following the mischarge, one of the girls contacted the restaurant via Instagram to clarify the charge and asked whether the complimentary cake had been included in the bill. The restaurant confirmed that the cake was free of charge but maintained that the billing was correct.

When the group questioned why they were charged for the extra cocktail, the restaurant responded,

    “If you want to dispute over RM58 I’ll get the cash ready for you tomorrow to pickup. You spend RM500 between 4 people lol.”

The owner of the restaurant the proceeded the mock the girl, saying:

  “Please pick up your cash tomorrow and don’t come back.”

Escalation through message exchanges

The conversation grew increasingly tense. While the group emphasized that their concern was about accurate billing rather than the amount spent, the restaurant insisted the calculations were justified.

The situation escalated further when the restaurant later posted on Instagram story titled, “If you can’t afford RM400 between 4 pax, maybe don’t come,” which the diners perceived as a public responses to their inquiry.

The post, shared soon after the private discussions, was seen as a response to the diners’ inquiry. They later released screenshots showing further exchanges in which the restaurant questioned their intentions, asked them not to return, and made remarks regarding their spending.

In the following messages, the girls attempted to clarify their calculations, while the restaurant maintained its position and viewed the responses as an overreaction. The exchange concluded with the restaurant reiterating

    “It’s ok just don’t come back, and please tell all your poor friends.”

The clarification request later drew attention due to the tone in the message exchanges and the restaurant’s public post. The incident has since circulated online as an example of how minor disputes can escalate when communication breaks down between customers and businesses.

the place really looks dodgy and ugly.. like those wanna be cafe but fail horribly... best is a place for ice cream. not fine dining. fine dining has expensive chairs, cutleries...

Even more people can afford rm58 for nothing.

But to be cocky and reply your customers like that for a mistake you made, then publicly shame your customers for a mistake you made is way past the line.
Imagine a gov counter mistakenly overcharge you then lansi reply then publicly shame you.

Is the person replying the customer, the owner himself? Or simply a disgruntled staff?

I do agree if mat salleh came all the way to open restaurant in Msia and ownself the chef and even customer service in Msia … likely cant make/failure in own country so to downgrade to SEA to open one … so likely he/she is poor of failed in own country so feel richer in Malaysia due to the currency exchange and therefore the ego uplift …

You dont see Gordom Ramsey and Jamie Oliver cooking and serving customer and handling customer service in their restaurant in Msia so the owner is considered low level.

The chef is rude af that's for sure.

However the customer pun satu lagi. Lul only order like one main course 3 sides for 4 pax. Sure tu9lan la the chef hahaha.

Saw the messages. Initially inquiry for pricing... Then chef reply rm489 for set omakase. Too mahal, then opt for ala carte.

I already can picture the moment go there order few dishes then Instagram post etc.

If you spend money on some product / services, you have all rights to voice out your opinion

while for poorfag like me,i just can listen to the story and warn myself dont go to this kind of atas set up.

Many many years back, ordered at some bistro / restaurant, didnt know there's a term called "sky juice / tap water"

so asked for water, the waiter asked still or sparkling


-- sparkling damn expensive, so i need to order "still water" !!!
Served me a bottle of Hildon (total 2 at the end) and i paid about rm 30 /bottle including tax.

Technically every staff who work at Tim Ho Wan dim sum restaurant is a Michelin star chef or that Singapore Soy Sauce Chicken place.

Anyway when asked for refund should've just said "sorry let me know your bank account number heres your RM60 back" and leave it at there without any more comment.

What type of omakase is RM 498 ? Most restaurants all more than that

I think you don't understand what it means to be customer obligation. Yes nothing wrong with customer order 1 main course 3 side for 4 pax. But it sure is rude af.

If there's a minimum order/spend per table, more so for private kitchen setup like this, it should be made clear to the customers or there will be a minimum charge if an order minimum is not met.

Clearly, the chef was silly for not taking precautions like that.

Who know how many times that the "accidental meals" added to the receipt happen. That's why it's important to check your receipt before paying. Sometime what appear on the menu and what you'll be paying can be off due to some extra charges n stuff.

everyone is different. at least i know a few close friend that eat very little per meal but highly proficient in business. one day sales is your ktard standard salary lol. if u have weird ass rule on your establishment like meal per head count, let ppl know. You dont need to have customer fronting skill then hire waiter that will do the leg work for you. this is not rocket science.

Same Eg I can give. CCP tourist makan buffet guna tangan angkat food, talk and act like barbarian. Even tho they finish the food, do you think it's correct?

No matter how rich you are, need to be considerate and act morally la. Dont be so sohai act morally corrupted by saying "I pay so I King"

lol...customer obligation only applies if a contract was signed........MOQ, obligation to purchase given certain conditions

If customer perangai buruk, you can ask them to leave or refuse to serve them. Customers have no obligation to spend more if they don't want to. So it's contingent on the seller to make clear the conditions e.g. minimum order before proceeding with the transaction

...there's no right or wrong. Only thing that matters is if the restaurant has a policy and is made known before they are seated. This is called business transparency

Bro you mixing up consideration with telepathy. Nobody saying “I pay so I king”. The point is simple:
If your place has minimum order rules, YOU state it upfront.

Customer obligation is to follow the rules that are communicated. Not rules the chef keeps inside his head and then gets offended later.

Your buffet example also off point la.

That one is clear behaviour violation everyone knows.

But ordering less food? Not a universal moral law. It’s literally house policy.

If the house never say, customer cannot magically guess.

High keras establishment lagi la...they all put minimum spend on the menu, at the entrance, or when you book.

Why? Because clarity prevents drama.

So the issue isn’t “customer inconsiderate”.

The issue is chef didn’t manage expectations and then salty when customers act within normal boundaries.

You can’t scold people for breaking rules you never told them.

the main issues is that the customer only realised that the restaurant charged x amount of dishes but customers next day claim y amount

if customers realised immediately, the reaction of the chef might be different

Another reason not to mengagungkan restaurants rated by a tayar company.....or simply anything associated with omputeh....

This guy as pointed out worked at a restaurant which was ran by tayar company star rated chef.....suddenly he very atas now just because of association.....he could just be a a kitchen helper, probably not even a sous chef in those restaurants and all these sohais pay top ringgit to be fleeced

Quite seriously, omputeh go to KL to open some atas restaurant that is not even in a prime real estate already tells you a lot .....if they could have make it, they would have done it in Tokyo, Singapore or HK in Asia. Otherwise, they would have remained in Europe, in this case Amsterdam......why go to some 2nd tier or 3rd tier asian city to open atas restaurant?

he didn't get his star....he worked at michelin starred restaurants....i.e. owned by chefs with michelin stars

Same situation as someone who helped that SG unker sell chicken rice, that person would be like him
