hi guys, need clarification on bringing in live demo unit electronics product into Langkawi, is there any restriction on this?

heard that you need to declare with custom to bring in hmm.gif

this is my first time handling such senario...

the units are brought in from our office in KL, and they are only for display (Live Demo Unit) at an expo over there...

appreciate any input on this

>tell them its for demo only, temporary import
>give letters/documentation

so, need to declare as temporary import into langkawi, correct?

this also applies to hand carry? because we are planning to go langkawi by flight instead of car sweat.gif

i also advised my team, if go by own car, (RORO) its easier to just put all in 1 box...no need go thru custom checking or anything

but since, they are going by flight, may need to declare or something with custom, since it is going into flight scanner

No major issues to bring in, but in your case re-export needed. so advise to declare so you can safely re-export.

Very long time ago I need to bring with me a telecommunication equipment to for sales and demo in India.

Went to airport and ask custom officer how to go about it. We just need ti fill in Custom Declaration Form. I think that's about it as far as I can remember. The officer told me that the form can be used at any entry point in Malaysia when I come back.

In India ..... Well since this is just involved Malaysia, I don't think you will have trouble once reaching Langkawi. Just need to show the same form I guess (I've no experience bringing demo to Langkawi) smile.gif

Yes, much easier. When I traveled last time I just asked and fill the form on the spot. No complication. Probably done in less than half an hour but that was because I have only one equipment the size of Hi-Fi amplifier. laugh.gif

ahh, mine would be around 10-20pcs of small electronics device, but all will be in one single box....may need to provide a packing list with detailed product description and SIRIM certificates or something....

already asked my forwarders, they also rarely handle this kind of request, but they will check..coz differen custom zone, different "procedure" they say

Yes, list down every single thing. Yes in this case packing list is a must. When you give more detail, you gain trust and that will make it a smooth process and look professional.

Good travel thumbsup.gif

p.s the form cannot put long list too.
