Hi fellow LYN sifus, I'm seeking for some advice on regarding my water pump.

I have a Grundfos PM1 water pump, not 100% sure but below is the only photo I have of it for now.

I tried to match it with photos online to the best of my ability. Do let me know if it's actually a different model notworthy.gif

Issue:
The water pump usually kicks in after about 1-2 seconds, but lately it takes upwards of 10 seconds to kick in. Not always - just sometimes but enough to be noticeable throughout the day.

Question:
1. Is this usually salvagable? Trying to learn more before I climb up to look as I'd have to borrow a ladder or rig something OSHA wouldn't approve of to get up sweat.gif
2. A blockage/controller issue?
3. For water pumps, what sort of maintenance work should one be mindful of to prolong it's lifespan and keep it working well? Lubrication of some sorts? Or cleaning filters for it?

Thank you in advance for your time!

Either blockage or pressure leak.

If pressure leak, u will need to replace the diaphragm and seals.

If blockage, u will need to call the plumber.

For pressure leak - diaphragm and seals replacement, is that a reasonable DIY job? Also do you know if the aforementioned parts would be easy to source?

Blockage - do you mean a blockage in the pump itself?

Correct. This is the pump controller.. But over time, I just get the controller board and replace the controller board in the controller casing. Still work like charm. Don’t need to replace the whole head anymore.

The controller is just a few ringgit compared to buying the whole set at 60-100 ringgit. The one u show is a bit expensive at rm240

Got it. I will do some research to see what are my options. May I know where you bought the controller board from?

Gotta try and climb up to confirm model + visual inspection first though sweat.gif

Thanks again for your answer!

Something like this. But better u open the controller (very simple) and just take a photo of the controller.

Got it. I'll take my chances and try to go up for visual inspection + change the controller as suggested, see what I can do there!

Thanks again! notworthy.gif

afaik Grundfos controls their spare you have to get an authorised dealer to service it. And OEM controller does not work well with their pump.
