Hello, im looking for places to repair my lenovo legion 5(no warranty, bought in 2021), it still starts but black screen and fans stop spinning after awhile. Before this no issue at all, everything working fine until it just blacked out and thats it. Tried sending to lenovo but they told me to just replace the whole motherboard for 7k, which i just build my own pc after.
Now im asking where should I send my laptop for repair since its a r7 5800 w 3060, might aswell try.
You need to find a micro soldering specialist who can diagnose the IC, chips, power, capacitors and narrow it down to see which part is at fault.
Shops and even authorized dealers always like to throw the same sentence, your motherboard is a defect and just tell you to change it for the sake of it.
Because to check and solder is not an easy task and will take time.
And could be also due to your CPU or GPU chip fault, but is very highly unlikely nowadays as they are using better solder balls.
Mobo can order from AliExpress if u know how to DIY. I ordered Thinkpad mobo before and swapped out DIY.
yeah but its not going to have the same spec is it, tried to look it up, its literally about the same price Lenovo BDPLANAR MBL82JU WINR75800H_RTX30606G RM is the model.
which is why im looking for a mobo repair specialist, i have done research online, a bunch of lenovo legions have been having the same issue but mostly caused by their ec chip/bios chip

Yes, which is why im looking to see if anyone knows anyone that deals with these, and i definitely dont think its a gpu/cpu chip fault, since many recent lenovo legion users have been doing repairs and seemed to found their ec chip to be faulty.

Basically, some Lenovo Legions (especially the 2020-2022 models) have a design flaw where the CPU ball joints are not correctly attached to the PCB. Your only way is to find someone who can reball the CPU:
Armand666 might be able to help you, but you'll need to WhatsApp him. Also Lenovo machines can be hard to do BGA work, as they use black glue/epoxy around the CPU/GPU to keep those chips in place and cannot be easily removed by normal BGA rework. Those who are not very experienced may risk ripping the solder balls/pads out which effectively destroys the board or the chip itself (apparently it's a practice inherited from the IBM days)
It's a common repair on the Chinese board repair community IINM

Not really an EC chip issue, rather specially a BGA fault P.S. You might want to consider extending your warranty instead (much cheaper than a board replacement). Lenovo actually allows you to reinstate your warranty even if your machine warranty has lapsed: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/my/en/
You will need to wait 30 days for your warranty to resume, and to avoid any warranty rejections you should not inform Lenovo of any warranty extensions until your warranty resumes
