Here is a more comprehensive list of privileges I'm able to tap into, for Private Banking. In decreasing order of "added benefits":

Maybank
1. Airport transfers (limited to 12 times per private banking client, so that's 24 times for wife and me)
2. Dunno how many double/triple Treats Points if I buy air tickets using the Diamante Visa Infinite Card (points never expire) and free conversion to KFlyer Points
3. Free Diamante Visa Infinite forever
4. Free Priority Pass Lounge Access (useful for airports without dedicated SQ Silver Kris lounges)
5. Access to free concert (eg Taylor Swift) and soccer (eg Liverpool's recent visit) events in Singapore & use of corporate suite @ the Singapore National Stadium
6. Access to IPO Bonds/FCN/preferential credit line
7. Access to Cornerstone Investor opportunities
8. Additional useless perks like exclusive use of MBB' private lounges at various locations in Singapore (but the best is right in the CBD and is super inconvenient) for free barista coffee and snacks and soft drinks

DBS
1. Unlimited airport transfers
2. Priority Check in at Changi T2 (useful if I ever fly Malaysia Airlines)
3. Use of private lounges at T3 & T2 (even if I fly economy)
4. Access to certain Income Funds (similar to annuities, but paying out 8% - 10% annually, with capital protection)
5. Access to IPO Bonds/FCN/preferential credit line
6. Access to Cornerstone Investor opportunities
7. Additional useless perks like exclusive use of DBS' private lounges at various locations in Singapore for free barista coffee and snacks and soft drinks
8. The welcome pack consisted of lifestyle vouchers like free grooming sessions (for him and her), free spa visits - none of which I had time to use and have all long expired

UOB
1. Airport transfers (I have to inform my banker and the total number of such free transfers depend on the value of my AUM)
2. Preferential fixed deposit/savings rates (while the war chest is being built up) - at the moment, I'm getting 3.3% on my savings account (neither DBS nor MBB offer this) with no lock in & this is even better than OCBC's Premier Dividend, as I can withdraw and transact without losing that month's interest
3. Access to IPO Bonds/FCN/preferential credit line
4. Access to Cornerstone Investor opportunities

Your Maybank Private Banking is with Malaysia or Singapore Maybank? Does Malaysia private banking offer such privileges like cornerstone investor etc?

My last private banking experience was with CIMB Private banking 20 years ago. At that time, they opened up foreign IPOs like Bank of China (HK) to us. Later on they restricted it to only institutional investors and became very partial in their allotments. I left after that.

Sorry mate, all my private banks are based in Singapore, although I do have nominal Private Diamante status with MBB Malaysia - but I have no idea why they'd bother to give that to me, since I have only RM550,000 left with them in a couple of boring low yielding FDs (well, RM 549,000 after my recent donation to jack2's voluntary dog shelter (don't ask, long story, but I respected his endeavours enough to do something positive about it), hahaha.

I've never availed myself to ANY of the supposed privileges MBB private would offer me in Malaysia... but I use a LOT of their free Limo airport transfers (since wife and I combined have 12 return trips per year). And when those run out, I use DBS' and I just found out from my UOB banker that I can request from UOB as well (although it's not publicized in their website).

AFAIK, if you consistently fall below AUM they can give you warning then decide to terminate your status

And I can’t speak for Malaysia but in Singapore, especially in the wake of the money laundering scandal where the criminals were caught and jailed and deported, the scrutiny to open a private bank account just got tightened further.

I was told that we were to be upgraded to UOB private 2 years ago but the official confirmation was made only 6 months ago.

MBB was my first private bank experience and the onboarding was over in a matter of weeks.

DBS was my next private bank and we got the official approval a couple of months with no additional details or paperwork or documentation required.

UOB took 18 months and I was requested to submit ACRA records of my companies, source of wealth, tax records…. The whole hog.

Once you lose it, if you wish to regain, don’t be surprised that you’ll be asked for more details than before.

thanks for prompt reply, even at this time, sir..

actually i just wanna squeeze the banks for benefits by joining their privilege.. uob rejected me many times and i finally got my VI approved via PB just so i can get their dragon pass....
but bcoz the banker told me i needed the 500k aum till end of June or something then i thought after that i can move the money out somewhere else to get better rates for FD or something so just checking out here if u guys know what he actually meant...

well, that aside , since these non Malaysian banks give shit rates for their FD... was wondering usually how u guys utilize the parked funds? of course they r always selling their insurance and Unit trust but i got enough of those d.. i been looking into capital protected products (e.g. shark fin /shark note) but dont mind explore others if got some suggestion .... not very familiar with financial markets but i guess those products introduced by the RMs usually will benefit them more than us so any1 open to discuss on this matter?

I park my money on bonds and dividend stocks, and I also participate in certain funds that have money in counters that I’m comfortable with. For what it’s worth, I’m getting 3.5% on OCBC and UOB savings account on the basis that I’m UOB Private and OCBC Premier Dividend Private (ie the level higher than plain Dividend but lower than full Private Bank of Singapore).

My portfolio is very conservative and I’m average 5% returns only, but that’s enough for me.

Forgot to add. No free vacuum cleaner or luggage for me when I was onboarded.

They make it seem like it’s a privilege to bank private with them, damn it.

I keep some Oz bond and insurance with UOB for their PB but think they'll pull your PB if you keep being under the threshold

Haha. Well, it’s not exactly fun and games to have to park a minimum of SGD5m with each of the banks that I bank privately. To complicate matters a little, it’s usually a requirement to deposit at least an additional 10%as a buffer, because some products may fluctuate in price, or currencies may fall in value, in relation to the SGD.

As I was with MBB as a private client the longest, they hold the lion’s share of my funds, easily more than DBS and UOB combined.

I was onboarded to UOB private banking last, so they hold the bare basic minimum so far, and I’ve been working hard to ensure that all 3 banks accounts are well buffered before I soon join the ranks of the gainfully unemployed (with my planned early retirement).

Then, I just live off the coupons and dividends and interest from these institutions and pray I don’t need to to top anything up.

Or as long as i transfer the required amount into the account every month then it's fine ?

Should be from the employer. Else anyone can just do a transfer to meet the requirement.
