Both of our cars are getting old and it's time to replace both of them.
I'm thinking we probably don't need two big cars. We could get one SUV for the family and one smaller fun car. As far as SUVs go, there are lots of choices but small fun cars in the Malaysian market seem a bit limited. I'd get an MX5 if it had back seats. I know the BRZ/GT86 has some things that look like seats behind the driver but I don't think anyone can fit back there. The fun car still needs to fit 4 people. Is owning a Swift difficult in Malaysia? Is there some car that I'm overlooking?
For the fun car, are you looking at new or used? If you want practical fun car that would be equally at home for ferrying kids and seniors to school or supermarket etc. you can consider Ford Focus hatchback, either the older 2.0 or newer version 1.5 turbo. Both are more fun when compared to family cars such as Corolla or Civic with sharp steering feel and nimble handling around corners, and are practical with back seats and automatic transmission. However, if you want purely fun cars that would be equally at home on the race tracks, that's another matter. Most of these cars come with manual transmission so it would also depend if you favour manual or automatic transmission.
