Recently, my office Fibre (cable) having problem again! I'm tired to pay extra money for replacement again!

Any Wireless method (Telco & Plan) recommended?

Fiber down and need to pay for replacement? What replacement are you talking about?

All wireless (simcard) broadband usually got FUP (1000gb or 2000gb). Seems not recommended for office usage.

Maybe can try yes? It shows unlimited & no FUP for 5G but for 4G got 500gb FUP

I'm more interested to know why you need to pay for fibre cable problem

Telco also got business plan..

First time heard fibre down and not own problem need to pay
Use unifi so many year, when unifi staff come to check when down, i never pay anything as not my problem

Old building. Fibre Optic Cable thin I guess, and the distance far & long from point to point, cause it easy broken I think? How much around they quoted you know? RM1000+, crazy right? Both Maxis & TM.

That's why I need alternative way!

It's about Fibre Cable broken not the service or signal itself! As they said la 🤔

For me there is nothing wrong with wireless. It is not about quota and max speed but it is about speed. Nothing can beat fiber.

Everybody talks about 5G has highest speed etc, but wireless is about signal quality. If signal is weak at point of reception, the the speed will be throttles down to ensure data transmission has less error. Even when signal is strong speed can also be throttled down because interference from reflected signal will cause error in data transmission.

When I use cable to connect to a switch port, I get 800Mbps on my speed test. However, when I use WiFi which is just about 5 meters away from my wireless router, I get only 300Mbps on speed test in room with no door and the router is visible from computer.

not only they can use 1st 5G network, they also have upcoming 2nd one which are activating now
price is also 2nd cheapest, just behind yes 5G

u can try wireless for office use, but I think you will cry.

Service provider usually provide fiber to their distribution port only and not into premises. On premises side, the job is done by 3rd party contractor. The RM1k charge is very expensive if talking about pulling a single cable to your unit. They probably talk about replacing old cable that houses multiple cable inside. Any other units in the building sharing the main cable?

Single fiber optic cable is much cheaper than LAN cable. If you talked about connection being on and off, probably it is due to off alignment at connection points only or probably fiber has been bent causing poor signal. If it is broke it will definitely totally offline. The cheapest multimode fiber can easily go to 300~500m at 1Gbps speed.

My check in Shopee shows that black outdoor fiber is only around RM65 for 200m long. Maybe you can find contractor without going through service providers.

you gotta change your stock router ( that is given by them ) they sucks big time

get asus or tp-link mid range router and you will be fine

the thing is, TS ask for office, so quota is important.

if got fup 1000gb and finished before next cycle, how? whole office share using 512kbps?

replacement apa lanjiao? fiber modem/ONT/BTU is ISP property, they replace it if it broke.

also wireless are not as reliable, why want to change?

Fiber have many things that 5G cannot compare. Reliability (if downtime they have to compensate), upload speed (you can only get about 50-60Mbps max) and quota FUP (1TB). Maybe if you need public ip.

All go against for work setting. 5G broadband only for home setting.

Fiber cable break is usually sabotage. Can’t be the cable keep breaking so often. Break cable, you call, then charge high amount. Can’t the fiber be in a conduit?

make sure you know how cellular (wireless) internet traffic is.
in day time, most people go to office. less people at home. traffic at home is clear. internet is fast.
at night, many people at home. traffic jam in the neighborhood. slow internet.
during covid19 era, in daytime, because many people WFH, my local internet is as slow as 56kbps dial up.
even in congested places in KL, you may get full signal but internet is as fast as 100kbps and intermittent.

I used to work in company that sell own branded wireless product and wireless router was one of them. I was in customer service and solved problem faced by customers. Well, my router probably not the latest 802.11ax but like many high end 802.11ac generation router, many 802.11ax have been incorporated inside the router even before the 802.11ax standard was ratified. I'm still using my old GT-AC5300AC and it can cover my whole two-floor house with at least 200Mbps.

Need to pay? I don't think so, even when my unifi down, the technician came over and settled the problem, i didn't pay anything 💙

speed going to be affected starting 7pm

your router aint chapalang spec bro, tri band+1gb ram summore cam easily handle normal traffic

it might be older but the specs surpassed many of these basic or even mid spec router of 2025

So, as you are experiencing it right now, will you highly recommend it? I'm suffering with no internet connection these days (only could hooked up with mobile hotspot) 🤪

speed depends on how many bars you can get at your place
there is only 1 plan available for umobile which cost RM72.1 every month including tax

it's actually my daily internet because i don't want to pull fiber

Cable outside your premise is covered by ISP. If any broken within your premise only then is u self pay.
I dont care how far outside, but as long as Fiber it should not have any drop in bandwidth. If copper maybe best effort 3pmbps max

Since the installation of the 5G station near my area, my modem has consistently displayed a full signal, and the service has been so far so good. Consequently, I have terminated my fiber optic service.

The stupid thing is the antenna design. Small SMA connector but big antenna. Over time the plastic around connector become brittle and broken. Have to buy from China for replacement and it is not cheap either around RM11 each

When I looked at WiFi6, the most significant one probably just multiple upload which WiFi5 does not support. I'd just wait for WiFi7. Actually, I'd just delay my purchase to get better price and another main reason is if your device does not support new spec, what's the point to rush getting new upgrade.

I checked the GT-AC5300 yesterday on Shopee and to my surprised it was still priced at RM2000 . Maybe wrong shop. I bought at least 2 years ago for probably RM1500 (could not recall)

1 year 3 times break, each time we had to pay 600

finally 4th time i say no payment to maxis, and after fighting with unifi they came themselves and fixed the fibre, which i dont think they were allowed to do, but who cares haha free for me. actual quality work too maxis did compared to unifi

most fomo fellas wont understand this. they are easily duped by the telco to "upgrade" to wifi6/7 package without knowing the real deal. die die need to have latest stock router which is sampah grade.

gaming, i think they recently released a gaming router for that plan
but can't comment because never use before
but 1 thing is for sure, the ping for 5G is significantly better than 4G but still cannot be as low as fiber

i think slowdown part depends on how crowded your place are...for me no, only sometimes

Say, if I'm an UMobile user, my phone 5G speed (likely 80Mbps - 100Mpps) is exactly the speed that I'll receive ?

at 1st i'm using their MC888 but because the place i'm staying cannot receive strong 5G signal
so i bought my own that has snapdragon chip inside and that really boost the 5G signal
if your place can get full bar using low end chip, u don't really need to get your own router

so the speed not only depends on your signal, it depends on your chip the device is using
so your phone is what phone and using what chipset inside?

currently cheapest is celcomdigi and umobile, buy a prepaid first to test your office area network strength.
They advertised as unlimited but FUP is 1TB limit. for router, i recommend to buy your own, Huawei is the best.

Just sort out, YES & CelcomDigi offered the best price! In fact, YES bundle Router seems not bad (some users reviewed). So, I'm also considering it! As I know , Umobile given Huawei Router.

maybe can consider Unifi Air Biz 5G, my customers using it and so far so good

for high rise building, normally fiber internal wiring not belong to unifi/maxis/TIME so if any problems with it, either building management or tenant/owner need to bear the re-wiring cost

recently I have 3 customers need do re-wiring (2 old buildings and 1 new buildings) and one of them is a tenant but need pay RM7k for re-wiring because building management and landlord no willing to bear the re-wiring cost

if your phone uses snapdragon thn it's better your get your own 5G router

what i suspect is from the doorway into his office..some shoplots have open access, so anyone can open and sabotage.. or old building where the wire room is a mess.. so néw installation by another can mistakenly disconnect your connection
