I just installed boot camp and Windows XP on my Macbook. Thing is when my MB is on boot camp my fans do not start at all. Its very quiet and Ic an barely feel any air at the ventilation holes. After like 15 minutes of use, my screen's brightness will go down to zero. I have to shut it down, let it cool a while. I am using SMC fan control when I am on OSX. I crank up the rpms' when there is a need for it. Any ideas how to get the fans to work on boot camp? I read that when on boot camp the fans spin at its maximum speed for most people, but mine is the opposite. It doesn't start at all.

Gosh I don't understand why do you guys have to mess around with the fan controls, if you don't trust Apple to take care of that, mind as well don't buy a Mac.
My guess is SMC Fan Control messed with the fans causing the problem in Windows. Well just a guess, but in the meantime DON'T use your Windows, don't want to burn anything. |

Sorta fixed it. Ran the fans at full speed on OSX then booted back to Windows. Worked fine. the screen was flickering for a while but that got fixed when I reinstalled back the drivers.

QUOTE(civic98 @ Nov 15 2007, 07:43 AM) Gosh I don't understand why do you guys have to mess around with the fan controls, if you don't trust Apple to take care of that, mind as well don't buy a Mac. Maybe you don't have heat issues. My Macbook averages 65 degrees without the SMCfan control app.My guess is SMC Fan Control messed with the fans causing the problem in Windows. Well just a guess, but in the meantime DON'T use your Windows, don't want to burn anything. With it and a decent laptop cooler, my macbook goes around 50+, rarely hitting 60. It's a manufacturing defect. Lack of ventilation! Any computer under high heat wouldn't live long. |

It works alright in OS X. Just that when I am on boot camp/Windows and I am playing Gunbound, the thing either shuts down by itself or the screen goes dark. Apparently the fans do not work on windows.

Did you try reinstalling windows?
Read this. So far, the only way possible to change the fan speed for bootcamp. http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=370102 |

Fixed it. Apparently when you reboot, SMC gets reset-ed so in order to boot into windows with the fans running I have to first start OS X then do a restart to get into windows.
