Hi, if an old house previous owner did not stay for few years already, the pipes did not run for some time. Not sure what type of pipes also, possibly copper. Can this cause things like rust and bacteria such as Legionella, etc. ?

Have a solar water heater on the roof, not sure how long already there, surely have hot and cold water pipings, concern whether the pipes still can use or better to change. Trying to avoid having to redo piping for whole house as that will be costly.

Also thinking whether to stick with solar (but potential costly maintenance in future), storage type (but not very comfortable with potential risk of explosion if not maintained well plus right above my head in the bathroom ceiling), or instant water heater (but can't enjoy powerful rainshower hotel feel).

Is very sad indeed that after buying the property, owner have to come to this crossroad.

All experienced electricians and plumbers will advised new owners to replace, not only because he wants the business, but the future replacement job is not about plug and play.

Is a decision property owner has to make .. not for a forumer to say yes or no.

Changing pipe is more than renovation of the house. Water is not just important but is for your own health. Can you imagine drinking water coming from those pipe that possible has contamination. Better spend money on piping and electrical wiring again is for long term safety. The rest that is for look only can wait

just call contractor to do pipe and tank wash lo.

As for solar heater, outdated tech la. Not even sure why people opt for it in 21st century.

storage never heard anyone explode before, seems like a made up problem. From tech point of view is as safe as any of your appliances and gas tank.

The best shower setup is always storage + pump. if you really that scare, put the tank in the backyard lo
