MUAR: Former Guantanamo Bay detainee Mohammed Nazir Lep, 49, ended his bachelorhood in a modest wedding ceremony held in his hometown today.

The solemnisation, held at Kampung Jeram Masjid, Bakri, was attended by close relatives and friends, who rejoiced at seeing Nazir, affectionately known as "Pak J", embrace a new phase of life after years in detention.

The union is not only a personal milestone for the groom but also a symbol of resilience after enduring years in detention far from home.

Hazizi added that the wedding was the long-awaited moment of closure, and a reminder that even after the darkest of trials, life offers second chances.
