One thing I felt very disappointed with Malay S’pore is their kids generation don’t speak Malay. They may understand when their elders speak to them but they’ll reply in English. Few more generation their heritage will be gone if don’t preserve. I kena praise before that my Malay much better than their kids
Alot of chinese in Malaysia also dont speak their own dialect anymore, all mandarin-washed already. Alot chinese ancestors from China to malaya dont even speak mandarin, all speak dialects … but now their grand children all speak Mandarin. How to comm with ancestors in Vahalla? Mandarin becomes official language of China in 1932 … chinese migrated to malaya in 19th century to early 20th century …Malay in SG dun speak malay speak english = not okay
Cantonese, Hokkien, Hakka, Teochew dun speak own dialect, speak Mandarin (other ethnic dialect) = okay
???
