More and more young generation cant speak their own dialects. All speak mandarin. For the non-cina educated ones they speak English more often. Either way they don't focus on BM which is a shame because it portrays failure on upholding our national identity.

But then again can be faulted meh? Meleis here say Cina in Indonesia all integrated can speak indon well, but truth is, when shit hit the fan, Cina gets singled out as bogeyman again. Ppl got eyes to see, brain to think tau....

Alot of chinese in Malaysia also dont speak their own dialect anymore, all mandarin-washed already. Alot chinese ancestors from China to malaya dont even speak mandarin, all speak dialects … but now their grand children all speak Mandarin. How to comm with ancestors in Vahalla? Mandarin becomes official language of China in 1932 … chinese migrated to malaya in 19th century to early 20th century …

Malay in SG dun speak malay speak english = not okay
Cantonese, Hokkien, Hakka, Teochew dun speak own dialect, speak Mandarin (other ethnic dialect) = okay
