‘Keep Malaysia Clean’: PM Anwar to unveil nationwide anti-graft campaign on MACC’s 58th anniversary

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 10 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will officially launch a national-level anti-corruption advocacy programme, ‘Keep Malaysia Clean’, on October 1, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said.

MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the initiative is part of the agency’s strategic effort to keep pace with the evolving and increasingly complex nature of corruption.

He said the programme aims to foster civic-mindedness, social responsibility and institutional integrity across all sectors of society through a more impactful approach than existing measures.

"We have recently engaged with both the Education and Higher Education Ministries, as their strategic cooperation is crucial for us to reach our intended audience, particularly students of all ages from pre-school to university students.

"It is with hope that the program's execution will further raise public awareness on the importance of a corruption-free nation, in line with the government's emphasis on strengthening public integrity," he told reporters at the MACC headquarters here yesterday.

Azam said the programme was developed in cooperation with MACC's Consultation and Corruption Prevention Panel, one of five external oversight bodies set up to provide checks and balances on the agency.

The launch will also coincide with MACC's 58th anniversary.

"As an agency entrusted with curbing corruption, MACC is always prepared to adapt not just in the investigative aspect of corruption cases but also in the prevention and education aspects of anti-corruption.

"We are taking the steps now because in two years we will be celebrating our 60th anniversary (our diamond anniversary) and the program's success will steer our aspiration towards a corruption-free nation," he said.

Anti corruption why focus on the rakyat?
It should be all the politicians. But we all know some fishes too big to catch.

No one wants to give you rezeki unless they are forced to do it.
