I have the same experience too actually. I stayed in mid-cost apartment from 2012 to 2020. I saw people driving Audi A4, skyline and even XC90. XC90 is more expensive than the house itself (market price of the house when I left was around RM280k).
My place about the same. Couple with 2 kids. Apartment worth 380k. Wife drives alphard v6 fetch kids to school and husband new X5. Since the apartment only got 1 shaded parking, the new X5 park outside rain and sun. 2 of this combined can buy 1 landed house.
