QUOTE(DarkAeon @ Sep 10 2025, 08:36 AM) there are 2 main triggers/reasons: ban the social media, and the gov can control the news media 1. A government ban on social media: The Nepalese government issued a nationwide ban on over two dozen social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and X (formerly Twitter). The official reason given was the failure of these companies to register and comply with new regulations. However, many critics saw this as an attempt to curb freedom of expression and silence online dissent. 2. Widespread frustration over corruption and nepotism: The social media ban was the spark that ignited a deeper, underlying anger. A viral "nepo kid" trend on platforms like TikTok and Reddit had been highlighting the lavish lifestyles of the children of political elites, contrasting it with the economic struggles of ordinary citizens. This fueled public outrage and demands for greater accountability, transparency, and systemic reform. sounds familiar? |

QUOTE(Virlution @ Sep 10 2025, 08:56 AM) just slug an additional trash fees deposit on the overseas climbers who go up the mountain. i think climbers would rather pay the additional fee and get someone like this guy to do the jobCarry an allocated 5kg bag of trash down and get back your deposit. the climbers and the sherpa is already hard enough climbing and descending, they rather give drone for the garbage job |

QUOTE(MR_alien @ Sep 10 2025, 09:08 AM) i think climbers would rather pay the additional fee and get someone like this guy to do the job Either way works.the climbers and the sherpa is already hard enough climbing and descending, they rather give drone for the garbage job If drone can lift them then technology can get the job done, but the upfront cost would be higher. Increase the permit fees, so park can hire more local to work as porters to bring the trash down, when they go up they can earn extra pocket money carrying things for the climbers. Or for more drones. Everest Base Camp (EBC) trek, the hike is for the permit and Sagarmatha National Park fee, which costs around USD 60 for foreign nationals. Increase to USD 100~200 should not be an issues for the rich climbers. |
