worse.  you blind ah? yes.

Singapore holds one of the highest rates of myopia in the world.

20% of children in Singapore are myopic by 7 years old.

Over 80% of adult Singaporeans are myopic.

People who are highly myopic are at a greater risk of developing early cataract, glaucoma, macular degeneration and retinal detachment later in life.

While genetics certainly play a role in the development of myopia, it is crucial to recognize the substantial impact of both the visual and non-visual environments in shaping its progression. The time spent outdoors and engagement in near-work activities stand out as the most influential, independent, determinants of myopia, with contrasting effects—the former protective, the latter exacerbating the condition. However, our understanding of the intricate relationship between various light attributes, visual environments, and myopia remains limited—further studies need to be undertaken.

yeah so while i like to akin it to overuse of digital screen devices, but TBH theres quite alot of other reasons it could impact also

my parents used to attribute my myopia when young was because i started to play pokemon emulator on my father's laptop lol

but my cousins who had a family PC earlier than me and use its as much as me all seem to suffer no issues sweat.gif
