What I think - distracted with phone, then got shocked he was close to the divider. Over-corrected to the left but went to wet patch, lost traction on rear and hit the brakes and continued hitting the brakes while the car slide without trying to perform any correction whatsoever.

He should have let go of the brakes / hit the throttle to power through with counter steer instead of just praying for the brakes to stop him in time.

Usually ease off the throttle good enough to slow down a bit so tyres can regain back grip.
But depends on many factors & drivetrain layout of car also.

In general, try to be smooth as possible. Any sudden acceleration/braking/large steering inputs when close to limits will usually get you in trouble.
Sudden braking can sometimes shift your car weight forward, leaving even less traction on the rear.

Can spend more simulator time to get a hang of some of the basics 🤣
