Sorry, Initial D noob here. Can somebody explain what happened? How fast was the fella going? Why did he (probably a guy or am I being sexist ) suddenly swerve to the left? And then he looked like he regained control of the car for a while but why did he then cross over the road and hit the middle divider?

What I think - distracted with phone, then got shocked he was close to the divider. Over-corrected to the left but went to wet patch, lost traction on rear and hit the brakes and continued hitting the brakes while the car slide without trying to perform any correction whatsoever.

He should have let go of the brakes / hit the throttle to power through with counter steer instead of just praying for the brakes to stop him in time.

I think that section is oily. But since video quality not too good, cannot see if there are oil on it. The only other clue is there is an X70 at the side where he crashed. I think that car also lost control there.

AWD is not invincible, when dealing with high speed turn nothing beat long wheel base. Yaris wheelbase too short, it's good for hairpin turn after 2nd check point at GH. High speed turn, leave it to GT car.

Look closely around 0:04. Car seems to slowly drifting towards the divider and then comes the dramatic overcorrection macam terkejut. Driver is a noob.

first time see someone so noob... usually is ppl overcorrected and takes too long to straighten back their steering and caused a 2nd swing which throws them off the road, but this guy, KING, just sit there do nothing.

Some ppl meant to think the steering is ok to turn 45 degrees, 90 degrees like Daytona... quite a lot of reaction by the driver.. early in the video...

Usually ease off the throttle good enough to slow down a bit so tyres can regain back grip.
But depends on many factors & drivetrain layout of car also.

In general, try to be smooth as possible. Any sudden acceleration/braking/large steering inputs when close to limits will usually get you in trouble.
Sudden braking can sometimes shift your car weight forward, leaving even less traction on the rear.

Can spend more simulator time to get a hang of some of the basics 🤣
