KOTA KINABALU: Police have received a report lodged by forensic pathologist Dr Jessie Hiu yesterday.

It is understood that the report was linked to threats made by netizens following her two-day testimony in the inquest into the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Kasim Muda confirmed the report.

"We received the report from her yesterday afternoon.

"In it, Dr Hiu stated that she had been informed by the Queen Elizabeth Hospital director about the threats," he told NSTP briefly in a phone call.

During the inquest, Dr Hiu testified that it was unlikely that the 13-year-old student had accidentally fallen or been pushed from a standing position.

However, she left it to the court to determine whether Zara Qairina had jumped of her own accord.

Lawyer Hamid Ismail, who represents Zara's mother, urged the public to respect Dr Hiu.

"Be respectful to Dr Jessie Hiu. Insulting and belittling her expertise will not benefit anyone. We will continue examining her next week," he wrote on Facebook.

Dr Hiu, 58, has served at Queen Elizabeth Hospital since 1998. She holds a medical degree from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and a master's in pathology from Universiti Malaya.

She is also a member of the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA), the Malaysian Society of Forensic Medicine and Science, and the Indo-Pacific Association of Law, Medicine and Science.

The specialist conducts and supervises between 100 and 150 autopsies annually and provides expert testimony between 10 and 15 times a year at the Magistrates', Sessions, and High Courts in Sabah and Labuan.

It's a qualified opinion based on evidence at hand. If her opinion is wrong get another pathologist to refute.

And unqualified opinion would be a subject matter expert giving an opinion on incomplete evidence such as 1MDB auditors or social media pathologist based on non existent credentials feeding free AI chat bot incomplete information. And to top it off calls it AI analysis
