China built Keris class LMS is a good example.
Launched within 1 year of laid down. Commissioned within 1 year of launch. Which other vessel in RMN in last 30 years managed this? |

QUOTE(takbodoh722 @ Sep 5 2025, 08:30 AM) ccp made keris class is under spec and just a big patrol boat There is reason why malaysia cancelled the order for keris class At the beginning of this procurement program, RMN has chosen the Keris-class ships made in China as the first batch. However, with the limited size and armament of this class of ships, RMN decided to acquire a different ship for the second batch. Among the companies that offer their products are HD Hyundai Heavy Industries with HDC 2000, Fincantieri with FCX, Damen Group with Sigma, Dearsan with C92 and STM with Ada. In 2024, Malaysia chose Ada-class corvette as a base design for its LMSB2. |

Doesn't answer why RMN still using China built boat if got kill switch.
Ada class only order 3. RMN want frigates, not OPVs but at the same time want a lot of hulls. MoD not enough ringgit. Number of hulls more important or size more important? This post has been edited by takbodoh722: Sep 5 2025, 08:54 AM |

QUOTE(DarkNite @ Sep 5 2025, 09:02 AM) On August 4 2022, the PAC reported that RM1.4 billion had been misappropriated and that the project had been awarded through direct negotiations without an open tender.[24] The then-defence minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had reportedly accepted the navy's preferred choice for a Sigma-class design on 26 May 2011, but then decided in favour of the Gowind-class design on 11 July 2011 after a discussion with Boustead Naval Shipyard.[25] Then-chief of navy Abdul Aziz Jaafar protested against the choice and later stated that the RMN had fought a "losing battle, right from the start", citing that the Sigma was a proven concept with other navies operating it, unlike the Gowind design. |

Original budget was for frigate. Due to songlap by jho low and jibgor, downgraded to opv. Rmn didn't choose prc vessels. It was forced down by najib.Prc don't need kill switch. Unless rmn keep years of spare parts, the vessel will stay at port if couldn't source critical spare parts. This post has been edited by icemanfx: Sep 5 2025, 06:49 PM |
