the longer u lived and experienced, the more you'll notice nothing is created...everything is an illusion
u have the illusion that you created something and u "chosen" this pathway
but the longer u live, the more you'll realized the pathway is already determined since birth...everything that happened to you is fixed and you can't really change much of it
if you don't believe me, try to deviate seriously from that pathway...try to do something radically different, you'll notice you'll be pulled back to the original pathway you belonged
everything else is just an illusion of your "hard work"
the real fact that i realized is....if that thing really belongs to you in this lifetime, you don't have to work that hard for it...it will still reach your hand
in fact life will keep reminding you to get it/go for it
if that thing u so wanted but destined doesn't belong to you, no matter how hard you try...you won't get it
and this applies to everything around us, pay attention and you'll realized it
i'm not saying this applies to everybody but not many people ACTUALLY has free will in this life
Within the broad trajectory, our life may be 'fixed'. But the room to alter your life is really huge. I could choose to live as a single life and travel for a holiday trip every month or I could choose to start a family with kids. Both could not be more different.u have the illusion that you created something and u "chosen" this pathway

I could also choose to be a sole contributor in my work, or I could choose to climb the corporate ladder and be a Head of Department. Both will give me different versions of life. Or I could choose to go all out and start a company. If your definition of life being set as in I will be in Malaysia, then I think our definition of 'fixed' in life is very very different.
Effort makes a huge difference. At work, it could mean earning 15k or 40k at 40 years old. At home, it could mean being single or having a wife with 3 kids. For health, it could mean being fat or being fit. Or it could mean if you have a cholesterol level of 8.0 or 4.0. Soooo much difference.
