Okay guys I need some advice here.
Based on all the findings, there's a very high chance that my GPU is cooked, since i don't have spare gpu and psu to test I think i will send it to a shop for further testing to confirm if my GPU is dead.
Detailed info: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5538275

Sent in to computer shop tested and confirmed GPU died, PSU pcie cables all works fine.

I'm not really keeping up with the latest GPU price and performance etc. I know that my PC is pretty old now, in an ideal world would be full system upgrade. But full system upgrade is just not possible now due to budget constrain.

If I can confirm my GPU is dead, which GPU model replacement is the most sensible?
And my PSU seems like working fine so if can continue using the 8pin cable so no need to replace the PSU?
Removed 8G GPU from the options:
RTX 3060 ti 8gb
RTX 4060 Ti 8G (Asus Dual EVO OC) RM1524
RTX 5050 8G (MSI ventus 2x OC edition) RM1349
RTX 5060 8G (ZOTAC GAMING GeForce Twin Edge OC) RM1569
RTX 5060 8G (MSI Ventus 2x OCC) RM1579

Updated options:
Nvidia
30 series:
- RTX 3060 12gb (MSI ventus 2x OC dual fan) RM1044

50 series:
- RTX 5060 Ti 16G (Asus dual OC PLUS GDDR7) RM2110
- RTX 5060 Ti 16G (MSI shadow 2x OC PLUS GDDR7) RM2139
- RTX 5060 Ti 16G (MSI ventus 2x OC PLUS GDDR7) RM2299

AMD
RX 9060 XT 16G (Asrock dual fan) RM1684
RX 7800 XT 16G (Asus Dual) RM2181

Note: My case can only fit dual fan, all the price above are from shopee, and i cant seem to find much 40 series card at shopee.

Usage:
- I still game occasionally, but not that frequent like last time.
- I do quite a lot of video editing recently using premier pro, photoshop, lightroom, those common adobe suite
- Still using dual monitors both 1080p, no plan to upgrade, unless either one of the monitor dead, then maybe will upgrade the dead monitor to 1440p.

Current PC Specs
• CPU: Intel i7-8700K
• Motherboard: MSI Z370
• GPU: Zotac GTX 1080 Ti Dual Fan (RIP)
• PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower GX1 700W (non-modular)
• RAM: 64gb
• OS: Windows 11
• BIOS: bios already update to latest version 7B61v1B when upgrade to windows 11 last year.

You should avoid GPUs with 8 GB of memory. Your only options are the RTX 3060 12GB and RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB [according to your list].

I bought 2x used (on carousel) RTX3060 12gb for RM1k 3 years ago. Sold 1 for RM750 FB marketplace. Replaced with a used RTX3090 RM3.2k.

I actually bought the MSI ventus 2x 12GB for office PC. Good thing is that the fan rarely runs since my office is cold and its only for work purposes. Now replaced the work GPU with a RTX3090.

But for your case, RTX3060 12gb is more than enough, if you can find a used one < RM1k. I sold my MSI ventus for RM750. I have another RTX3060 12gb dell (https://youtu.be/ClFMDC9ei98) which is similar to the MSI in terms of footprint. Maybe slightly smaller. Bought it early this year. So, if you managed to get that dell card, it is worth it.

No need to change PSU if still working.

Yes that's what I'm aware, 8G is not enough if I upgrade monitor to 1440p and go for higher game settings.

If that's the case, based on price that's around RM1k difference hmm.

one questions I've also checked, my motherboard msi z370 is using Pcie 3.0 and the 5060 ti is using Pcie 5.0, so it will still works right? only reduce speed?

You have these.

Acer B580 12GB Nitro
RX 9060 XT 16GB version only
RTX 5060 Ti 16GB only
RX 7800 XT 16GB

Avoid 8GB GPUs. Unless you like lowering the settings for a new card.

RTX5060 GPUs are designed for 8 lanes instead of 16, regardless of the PCI interface. You likely won't see a performance penalty when using a 16GB card in a PCIe x3.0 slot [unless the onboard VRAM is exceeded].

Can't seem to find B580 on shopee and I dont think I will go with intel GPU.
The price is between Nvidia and AMD is very very close.

Few questions:
- Based on my use case, is AMD perform better than Nvidia based on my listed model?
- you think AMD is overall a better option?

B580 out of stock. AMD offers better price/performance. Turn on your iGPU and Adobe Premiere Pro will take advantage of it.

The 7800 XT has better raster performance. But the 5060 Ti (16 GB) offers the latest features [DLSS 4, MFG, and better RT]. Since both cards are similar in price, it's a question of features versus raster performance.

This is a very tough choice for me, but i gotta be honest, i'm a bit bias I kinda prefer nvidia, because their driver support DLSS etc, although recent driver seems like sh!t.
but if i wanna run some local llm also, seems like 5060 ti 16GB is basically the only choice right.

Or stick with iGPU, be patient a bit when i'm flexible enough just do a full system upgrade.

Since your majority usage is video editing usage, better stick to Nvidia GPU as they have better apps support. Go with 5060Ti

Just sent in my PC to the computer shop, let see what they can find. Already shared with them my troubleshooting results. Based on all the findings I think almost certain 99% is the GPU faulty.
I’ve also ask them to double check my motherboard to see is my pcie lane working and to see is my PSU working fine.

Is the pricing range I found at Shopee consider fair?
I think I will wait for 9.9 sale and see how much discount I can get.

First of all, what games and at resolution? hmm.gif

If you don't game much you could go with something like a 5050/5060 icon_idea.gif

Indie games, Warzone, Expedition 33 and new games that interest me.
Now is 1080p, running dual 1080p monitor, my first old monitor already 12 years old, some times can see some random flickering, so i'm expecting it to die at anytime.
once the monitor die, will replace it with 1440p monitor.

Most likely will be getting 5060 ti 16G.
I will only consider full system upgrade if the motherboard or PSU fail, then the 5060 can reuse also.
overall I think 5060 kinda future proof a little.

A 5060 Ti 16GB isn't a bad deal though (although your listed prices are overpriced by around RM300), but I'd say I'll recommend a 9060 XT 16GB as it is quite a bit cheaper over the Nvidia:
Here's a Sapphire model for about RM400 less than what most 5060 Tis cost:
https://my.shp.ee/MuLNEeS

You can use QuickSync video for your video editing work icon_idea.gif

Note: Radeon cards tend to have much lower CPU driver overhead, which is useful considering your current CPU icon_idea.gif
Another point in favor of the 9060 XT: unlike the 5060Ti which features a x8 PCIe link, the 9060 XT features a full x16 link which reduces memory related bottlenecks, especially on PCIe 3.0 only platforms (like yours) icon_idea.gif
