KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 3): Over 2.9 million Malaysians have spent RM192.4 million on basic necessities using RM100 one-off Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) credits in the first three days of the programme, according to the Ministry of Finance (MOF).

The third day of the programme, Tuesday (Sept 2), saw more than 1.1 million transactions worth RM75.3 million in sales being transacted as of 10.30pm, compared with RM50 million on its first day (Aug 31). The transaction success rate also improved to 95% from 79% on Aug 31, MOF said in a statement.

The ministry noted the sharp increase in usage led to a spike in the MyKasih system’s transaction load, reaching over 2,000 approved transactions per minute — nearly four times higher than the previous peak of 540 transactions per minute in April 2025.

“To improve system smoothness, processing capacity has been increased from 5,000 to 15,000 queries per minute,” the MOF said. “This upgrade is expected to accelerate transaction processes and improve user convenience,” it said.

The MOF added that RM100 Sara credit remains valid until Dec 31, 2025, and can be used at more than 7,300 registered retail outlets nationwide.
