PETALING JAYA: PAS’s Manjoi assemblyman Hafez Sabri has apologised over a Facebook post on the security breach involving Sultan Nazrin Shah at the Perak state-level National Day celebration, after it went viral and drew criticism for being racially charged.
Hafez said his initial post, made based on early information, had wrongly identified the person involved.

However, he claimed that the post was manipulated by “irresponsible parties” who circulated a screenshot before he corrected it within minutes. The post has since been deleted.

“Unfortunately, irresponsible parties took a screenshot of my initial Facebook post almost instantly and spread it widely, pushing a narrative as if I was playing the racial card,” he said in another Facebook post today.

He said he had no intention of raising racial or ethnic issues, adding that security breaches cannot be condoned regardless of who was responsible.

“I apologise for my error in this matter … as a human being, I, too, am not free from mistakes,” he said.

He said he had lodged a police report over the matter.

Police had earlier confirmed that the woman who rushed onto the stage and ran towards Sultan Nazrin was a 41-year-old Malay woman, dismissing claims that she was Chinese.

The woman, who has a history of psychiatric treatment, was detained by security after she entered the stage from the side during the Perak anthem.

Ipoh police chief Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the woman has been remanded until Wednesday, and the case is being investigated for attempted grievous hurt under Section 325/511 of the Penal Code.

DAP Youth wings in Penang and Negeri Sembilan have since filed police reports against Hafez over the posting.

If he had stopped at apology it would be acceptable, but no he still have to play the victim card by blaming the internet. Why don't he blame the source of the wrong information in the first place and report it to the police? Didn't do it because it was one of his colleagues?
