People will laugh if they see ev user using petrol to generate electricity, make sure to do it out of sight from the general public

This thing is also pretty heavy if you want at least 2kw power, usually around 40kg when empty, there are smaller and lighter ones but only generate 800 watt or less, so charge for one hour only get you 4 or 5 km depending on efficiency

You think too highly of Tesla. It’s still the same problem. As long as it’s EV you will get the same anxiety. Like this Tesla user - keep complaining can’t do full round trip

Worry abt ev range & charging availability/time is one thing.
This is more worrying. I am sure ev owners will disagree.

Wait what?

Why people talk A you reply B?

He's saying Tesla is better choice because Tesla charging stations are usually more reliable and better uptime. The video you link talks about unrelated issue of his Tesla not doing 500km and he complained about EV chargers offline that's not even Tesla chargers doh.gif

at that point, just borrow a 240v 13amp plug point from the petrol station and use the wall charger. Or.... almost all the car insurance offer free EV towing. tow back home loh.

EVs only suitable for city driving. Outstation need proper planning.

Alternatively, bring along a genset. 2k budget for the unit plus 100 bucks petrol more than enough.

The answer is AC charging stations. Anywhere that has DC fast chargers should have few AC chargers beside it. AC chargers are cheaper to install, if DC charger offline the AC chargers can help EV owners with low battery % to charge enough for next charging station.

Yup, Semenyih really lacks dc fast chargers. I think most EV owners here charge at their landed houses.

Nearby Starbucks EcoMajestic got slow AC chargers and other slow AC charger at Eco Majestic ShowGallery.

Ask all family members to take bus (bring luggage) to destination to cut weight to the max..

Then lu sendiri drive without aircon, without charging phone, without more than 30km/h.

You have to be adventurous to start with. Cope all the challenges ahead..

mark my word.
ICE will face more severe anxiety in next 5 years, when Petrol Station as rare as dino.

7 years ago i already say EV will be mass market. /k laugh i should go rambutan
5 years ago i already say Autonomous Driving is not science fiction. available in 5 years time. /k laugh me, ask me go back school.
3 years ago i already say, EV sales will surpass ICE in biggest Auto Market. It did happen now, in China.

Now. let me tell u guys, what your IQ and knowledge cannot comprehend.

Petrol Station will become harder to survive = close shop.

Why?

1. Weaker demand of crude oil will eventually put price/barrel goes higher. Why??? U think OPAC bodoh? the only way to maintain their income level is chopping oil user. not selling cheaper.

2. Solar, New Renewable Source Growth, EV marketshare, this is where the market will never go back to Petrol no matter how low the price crude oil

3. Higher petrol price will acceralate adoption to New Reneawable, also EV.

4. Petrol station profit go thinner with lesser ICE car.

5. expensive Petrol push more people to petrol alternative.

6. EV Charger , 5 years ago less than 50 in malaysia. Now?? Target 10000 by 2026.

7. Diesel subsidy removed already cost hundred of Petrol in nothern region stop working ( no more smuggling )

8. Problem in malaysia = TOO MUCH petrol station. if ICE Car Sales number grow slow, STATION cant sustain.

9. Shell quit Malaysia is 1 big sign.

If want to go other states in an EV, get one above 500km WLTP at least. Ini 300-400++km tak boleh la. Got no buffer at all and is like depending on all stars and planet to align in a straight line.

If want to go other states in an EV, get one above 500km WLTP at least. Ini 300-400++km tak boleh la. Got no buffer at all and is like depending on all stars and planet to align in a straight line.

300-400 for short distance ok la.

Last time if ICE run out of gas in the middle of the road , people use tin can , jerry can to get emergency refill

If EV stranded along the way with depleted battery , can we detach maybe 20% battery module and bring to EV station for charging ???

mark my word.

*
TNB already start the ball rolling with this new billing scheme. Really cant tahan for big user.

Sooner or later battery charging at off peak/night time and house use it for day time gonna be popular for highrise dweller. Solar and batts gonna be more mainstream for landed.

You think too highly of Tesla. It’s still the same problem. As long as it’s EV you will get the same anxiety. Like this Tesla user - keep complaining can’t do full round trip

Sure wltp not accurate one ler when you go east coast.

You daki banjaran titiwangsa ler. Seen multiple youtube car reviewer test range many new EV go trip from KV to Pahang/Terengganu/Kelantan. WLTP sure lari a lot.

They got more closer to wltp range when travelling north south here ler.

I wonder if 80% cars in Malaysia are EV, how many charging dock needed in every charge station when it requires 30 min charging time for each car hmm.gif

We are now worry about proving enough electricity to supply data center and not taking EV into count yet hmm.gif

It's chicken vs egg situation. Would-be buyers wait for more charging stations before buying. Charging station operators wait for more demand before installing more.

That is not the question. Imagine all existing petrol stations become EV charging stations. I would say that even if every existing pump is converted to EV charge point, it would still not enough to make EV car journey smooth enough disregarding the 30 min charge time. sad.gif

Technology evolves. By that time, who knows what kind of charging speed or battery technology will be there? Maybe 1000km range will be a reality, with a full charge taking minutes. If you had a car with 1000km range, how often do you need to refuel?

That's what hold me back from buying EV for now

EV fanbois always mention plan ahead but you sure your plan could work every single time?

Admit that charging station is just not enough

If you travel long distance trips daily then EV is not for you. Simple as that no need ayoyo about it.
I never use any charging station at all, rumah can charged daily, easier than go petrol station daily.

small correction if i may, apparently its ok for long distance according to the EV owners here.

Massive butthurt after i pointed out that you can't go fast AND long distance with an EV. Go figure. Guess they dont understand their own cars if they are surprised by that fact.

Why need speed when just cruse speeding is perfect.... if speed demons don't think EV....
Dumb people are everywhere, don't blame the cars even for ICE.

i am cruising, just not at highway speed limits, or as one EV forumer aptly said "as fast as i want"

cars are tools to fit YOUR needs, not the other way around. Why they are insisting that its a equivalent to ICE cars when it comes to that specific function is really quite puzzling.

infrastructure still not ready for long-distance travel on EV unfortunately in malaysia. give it another 5 years hopefully the infra will be better. i recall got those portable battery chargers for EV (not sure got sell in malaysia or not)? maybe can buy those just in case..
*
In reality the infra will be stangnant ..now EV car reaching 800km range..u can drive from KL to JB and back without need use public charger..less user ..no motivation for the installer to add more charger.

Last time I think like you.

In actual fact, the biggest competitor to the public charging facility is the lowly 7kw Ac charging at home.

Imagine 20,000 home chargers @7kw.... It is already out there.

No one wants to sit at the petrol charging station.

Edit: with Petrol...all user have no choice but Petrol dispenser... With home charger...it is a different type of freedom. You will not own a petrol station, and you will be happy.

Since when I ayoyoyo, i merely giving my opinion and preference.

Giving out my opinion so that they can improve, at least they know what the potential market is all about. Ain't this kinda feedback is good for them?

My outstation trip is not daily but quite frequent especially holidays
