ICEV legacy carmakers r struggling n gasping for survival. Temporarily saved by hybrid but eventually would be annihilated by EV & solar, just a matter of time.

now many BYD competitors already copying them... 2000KM range (Qin L vs geely galaxy a7), Mid size suv (Atto3 vs Emas 7), small hatchback (Seagull vs Emas 5), copied, etc...

Will EVs be as reliable as ICEV though?

like 15-20 years still can run?

If not, then ICEV will still be around.

in a big part, it doesn't matter if EVs are as reliable...

the question is whether traditional ICE car makers can withstand the loss of sales and remain solvent for the immediate future... if any brand/maker go bust, its hard to come back.
I hope they remain around forever, cos i really prefer ICE cars still.

AI Overview
Yes, EVs are generally more reliable and experience fewer breakdowns than Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles, according to 2024 and 2025 data from organizations like the German Automobile Club (ADAC). This higher reliability is attributed to EVs having simpler mechanical designs with fewer moving parts, such as no engine oil, mufflers, or complex transmissions, which reduces potential failure points compared to ICE vehicles.
Why EVs are More Reliable:
Fewer Moving Parts:
Electric vehicles have significantly fewer mechanical components than ICE vehicles, which reduces the likelihood of wear and tear and potential breakdowns.
Simpler Drivetrain:
EVs do not require complex systems like engines, exhaust systems, or transmissions, which are common sources of problems in ICE vehicles.
Reduced Maintenance:
The absence of oil changes and other routine engine-related maintenance further contributes to EV reliability.
Smoother Operation:
The instant torque and lack of gear shifts in electric motors result in a smoother driving experience, which is a sign of fewer mechanical stresses on the vehicle.
Data Supporting EV Reliability:
ADAC Data:
Analysis of repair service data by the ADAC in Germany found that EVs function more reliably and have fewer breakdowns than ICE vehicles.
Reduced Breakdown Risk:
Statistics show that the chance of breaking down in an EV is less than half that of an ICE vehicle.
In summary, the inherent simplicity and robust design of electric powertrains make them a more reliable choice compared to the intricate mechanical systems of traditional gasoline and diesel engines.
