Hey there sifus of Lowyat forums.

I want to get my first custom PC. Here are the specs:

- CPU: Ryzen 5 9600X

-Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 EVO

- Motherboard: MSI B650M Gaming Plus WiFi

- RAM: Klevv Fit V 2x16GB

- GPU: GIGABYTE RTX 5070 Windforce OC SFF 12GB

- PSU: Corsair RM750e

- Case: Lian Li A3 - Wooden Edition Black

- SSD: T-Force G50 1 TB x1, 500 GB x1

- Case fans: Thermalright TL-C12C 120mm x3

Compatibility wise I've done a lot of research and used PCPartPicker and ChatGPT to ensure everything fits (but let me know if something is out of place!)

What I'm blur about right now is where to get everything. I'm able to get everything from Shopee for about 6.5k, but I understand after-sales support can be difficult if something goes wrong. I wanted to get someone to build it originally but I calculated it's a RM 400 premium.

Would you guys recommend going out to source parts from physical shops like Low Yat? Does buying parts physically offer any advantages that outweigh the generally higher prices compared to online? Or should I just save the time and hassle and pay to get it assembled lol

Stick with the official stores / known local stores on Laz and Shopee. If you're unlucky you might end up with gred AAA which looks exactly like original

Gred AAA usually comes with supplier warranty / 1-1 exchange within 6 months, unlike traditional manufacturer warranty for 2-3 years.

Chinaman always say: Cheap thing no good, good thing no cheap. So, beware of spectacular discounts.

Most of the stuff on Shopee I'll be getting from Just IT and my RAM from Flexi Tech Solutions. They seem quite popular so I assume they are 100% original/legit?

Most likely. If fake parts you can go to their brick and mortar store and buat kacau....

Check the serial number on manufacturer website when you get the items.

9600X is a waste of sand. Might as well get 7600X or 7700.

Try these. Better for your money.

IINM there used to be a RX9070 for RM2.6K - even better value considering the difference between the XT and non-XT models are very small icon_idea.gif

doh.gif Didn't see that

On a different note, many boardmakers are winding down production of B650 boards; it might be a good idea to look at B850 boards instead icon_idea.gif

I would reco away from Giga GPU due to melting thermal goop they used as heat spreader.

Also for bootdrive I would reco SSD with DRAM, ie TGroup G70 Pro, MP44. Or else Adata S70, Kingston KC3000.

Your location?

If in Klang/SA side, try Dotatech, if in Klang valley try ask resident sifu Myway or Tristanx? I think Chocobo around here too?

EDIT: And yes, usually if you buy all from a single seller usually they would provide assembly service FOC.

Buying from online shops, particularly during monthly sales, you can save a lot of $$$. However, I recommend only buy from reputable online shops with physical stores. Cons: aftersales can be a chore, some shops may be willing to help if your part has issues. Do your due diligence and see where you should send for RMA if things go south.

Buying from physical stores, on the other hand, you'll be able to check for stock availability and can buy off the shelf immediately. They can assist you with RMA. However, prices can be higher but I have seen physical shops are able to compete with online prices. Nothing beats the excitement when seeing parts stacked on the shelves in front of your eyes.

I bought all of my items online (20 yrs ago, it was all physical). It is a bit of a risk for large ticket items (gpu, monitor) but I took the risk. Granted, I built my own rig and chose each item carefully. Been rock solid so far.

My experience: it might be worth to check out your local brick and mortar stores, as there might be a possibility that you can get cheaper GPUs than what online retailers charge icon_idea.gif
I got my 5070 Ti for RM3799 from TMT a few months back, and was actually quite a bit cheaper than online retailers where it frequently hovered around the RM4K+ mark icon_idea.gif

some components I buy at physical stores/dealers - mostly the expensive stuffs such as GPU, CPU and motherboard
some components online - usually not the most expensive ones such as cooler, fans, peripherals, storages, case etc. but CPU I also bought online in my case.
usually cross-check which one cheaper. if store is <RM50 more expensive then check if it's worth the time to wait for online shipping. sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't
