Hi

My mobo Gigabyte GA-7N400 has four(4) DDR1 RAM slot.

Current RAM:

Slot 1 - 512Mb Kingston
Slot 2 - Empty
Slot 3 - 512MB Kingston
Slot 4 - Empty

Was ok...system detect both as 1024Mb.

Then bought additional Kingston 2x512MB DDR1 RAM.

Now:

Slot 1 - 512Mb Kingston (old)
Slot 2 - 512Mb Kingston (new)
Slot 3 - 512MB Kingston (old)
Slot 4 - 512Mb Kingston (new)

Problem is, it detect all four(4) RAM as 1024Mb rclxub.gif
If two(2) RAM...512MB.

I found out that it's the Slot 1.
Proof is when I install only three(3):

Slot 1 - Empty
Slot 2 - 512Mb Kingston (new)
Slot 3 - 512MB Kingston (old)
Slot 4 - 512Mb Kingston (new)

It detect 1536Mb.
I've test all RAMs on other slots...all RAMs were ok so far.

Wierd though.
What's wrong with Slot 1?
Was ok before sweat.gif

I will.
I'm emailing the mobo manufacturer.

Forgot to add...all three(3) RAMs were double sided...only one(1) were single sided.
It does not matter though...because it's the Slot that was a problem.

Slot 4 actually not slot 1.

I think it's not the RAM.
All three(3) of my RAM were double sided (DS)
Only one(1) is single sided (SS)

I've read the manual of my mobo.
The way was:

Slot 1 - DS/SS
Slot 2 - DS/SS
Slot 3 - SS
Slot 4 - SS

Crap.

Now I need to find a SS RAM.
Trade it with one of my DS RAM.

Thanks for any help notworthy.gif

Oppps...I use all three(3) DS RAMs on Slot 1, Slot 2 and Slot 3.
Slot 3 supposed to be SS only from my mobo manual.

It detect 1536mb nicely.

Again, Slot 4 is a problem I think.

My mobo can support till 3GB.

Or maybe 3GB max on 3 slots?
3GB on 4 slots is a no no?
