Visited an medieval, non-commercialized town, Boljun in the mountains on the way to Pula. The houses are constructed in-between the abandoned castle. Zero tourists… population 500.

Late posting here…. On tge way to Milan, stopped at Verona to buy leather products made in Italy, not the exotic brand types, but of true cow-leather. Then visited the Sirmione Resort.
Viewed the lake - nothing special after seeing the big waters at Plitvicka Jezera and the lakes at The Dolomites… Then refilled petrol before reaching Hotel NH. Traffic became heavier as Milan became nearer. We were able to locate cheaper E95 Benzene fuel. Fuelled to the brim. Attached thumbnail(s)

Finding the best deal for re_fuelling…
1) Use Waze to identify the best-priced station for Benzene. In my experience here, it’s Tamoil.. 2) Set Waze to go to station Tamoil. 3) Upon reaching said station, ensure price is as indicated by Waze earlier. If it is, or even lower…identify the right pump point… 4) Re-fuel to the ‘required litre’ and chk amount charged is correct. 5) Print receipt and keep forvreference. Note : When pumping with a credit card in Italy, EUR 103.29 will be extracted upon pumping. This amt will be consolidated against the actual amt to be charged against the card-user, snd the excess will be credited-in back into the cardholder’s bank acct… Above is re-fuelling tactic for a Road Trip in Europe. Experienced an accomodation in higher ground tonight in the centre of the ctry, unpaved road leading to the ex-monastery, no streetlights……. Still the WC has been renovated into a modern setting…
Floor is of cement structure…. Freezing…. Tried 2 dinner menus - home-made pasta and steak with beef from Tuscany…. Just so-so…. Attached thumbnail(s)

A further view facing The Salecchio Collezione of pottery from the bedroom…
And a classic window with multiple frame & traditional-styled handles from one of the The Godfather movies. Not too sure about this… but I’ll verify this when I reach Sicily. Added : The backyard, looks blurred because of the insect-screen. The classic window lets the light in but keeps the cold air out. The sun is out. This ex-monastery from the 17th-century has been heavily refurbished with diff themes for the rooms…. Showing too the distinctive furnishing style for each room.
This is a great place to experience the monastery-feel, but it is next to impossible to reach here without a car. The bus-stop is at the bottom of the hill. Attached thumbnail(s)

At Milan earlier, managed to secure two tickets for the final Balcony Seats at the Teatro Alla Scala. Elegant dressing… Ballet dances.. and the highlight : The Bolero Performance.

Some further inputs from the Teatro Alla Scala… one thing noticed was there were many Carabinieries around the teatro, before & after the performance. Patrol vans with blue sirens flashing around… wondered why….

Yesterday….San Marino is a small independant state inside Italy…
Uses the EURO, fuel is cheapest here I’ve seen having driven over a few countries in Europe this trip. For Benzene, EUR 1.57/litre at one station. San Marino is the capital city with govt offices there. High up in the hills… sunny, many tourists from Italy & I heard Russian being spoken…. San Marino is to Italy…. what Monaco is to France. Stayed in the city BUT avoided ZTL zones… trick is to identify ZTL capture sensor locations… & match these locations with traffic directions. Then avoid those points. Anyway… rode trams too for the expetience… Tram was packed. Tired walking… too many things to see… Roma is truly an open-air museum… rode in the Bigbus… Will post some shots of attractions later. Everybody knows abt Rome… nothing much to say. Night & Day shots…. The Pompeii Archeological Site at Pompeii, plus a highly memorable stay….
I have recordings of the guide’s narratives… feel free if anyone wants to know more about how Pompeii was destroyed by a volcanic eruption. Pompeii was the first ‘mtg point’ of sncient Greeks & The Roman Empire. Taken a guided tour for a good explanation and to understand better the disaster at Pompeii…. Had a truely memorable stay at Castellamare… and had a hard time finding the place plus driving thru the roads there…
This is the Italian ‘ghetto’ ? Pardon the acronym.. Night & Day Views, a motorised shutter opens out to the bslcony… Hard to find roadside parking but managed to do so by chatting with the locals with a mixture of French & Italienne.. parked right beneath a No-Parking Sign…lol… Car was not broken into… everything was safe. The roads were hard to maneuver here. I can’t even call it a one-lane road… but cars run in both directions.

The Coastal Drive from Castellamare - Sorrento - Positano - Amalfi Beach - Salerno… breathtaking, outstanding sceneries, even better than the Dubrovnik Drive made a few weeks ago…

We’re in our 2-Bedded Cabin w/ window… signal becomes weaker as we sail further out to sea…. Bound for Messina, Sicily.
Our car was the first onto the Cartour Delta, registered at Bari on the eastern coast of Italy Mainland… Edited by adding one more prominent clip, showing the climb onto Deck 5 of the Cartour Delta… windshield is wet… has been raining since 9 am this morning. Set sail at sharp 1.30 pm Italy time…
Signals became weaker as the Cartour Delta sails further out to sea before turning portside to head for Messina…. The sea is choppy today… it’s been raining since 9 am this morning. We are now on the Tyrrhenian Sea. Don’t if I’m imagining things… the sea looks closer than when we were at port… “lots of water now”…. Attached thumbnail(s)

Messina ahead….
When our ferry entered Messina 2 nights ago, the entrance to the harbour was guarded by the Sea-God Neptune. The sight was majestic…. Thot I wouldn’t want to leave this out… And we again saw Neptune the next morning in our tour of Messina… but this time, the view was from the city…. Enjoy, bros & sis…. Stayed right next to a cruise ship…😂. Never stayed before in a hotel next to a deepsea wharf. Room is of normal luxury standard.

The Mt Etna Volcano was silent today, no activities except for done fumes seen at the peak of the volcano. The guide advised us that he can take us to see lava in a cave. We opted to go….

Trullo Houses at Alberrobelo….
Decided to add more details here because when I first created this input, I was on the streets. Chatted with Brazilians and Italians at the Panoramic Viewpoint. Had a Kampari with them, a local aperitif of the Puglia Region. Visited an Olive Oil Manufacturing Facility too, and did ‘olive oil tasting’, conceptually similar to wine-tasting. Ahh yes, just before we put Italy aside, would like to share a few more shots of the climb of Mt Etna, a live volcano on the Island of Sicily…
Mt Etna, there is white fumes billowing from the peak-crater… The track was dangerous at some points when the slope falls to the bottom just beside us. We were brought to a cave where hot-lava still flows. Climbed a narrow gorge which was a path taken by lava flows thousands of years ago. And there is a crack here where hot steam billows up from a cave and the air was warm thought it began to snow… Attached thumbnail(s)

Am still on Crete Island now… will be visiting the Old Town and Venetian Port before flying back to the mainland (Athenia).

The challenges at the border-crossing today. We will probably reach the border late tonight and it’s a Sunday today :-
1) What time will the border-crossing close this evening ? 2) Will there still be border-insurance representatives for us to buy car insurance from ? Albania is neither an EU ctry nor a Schengen state, hence, border guards might be strict to a Serbian number-plated car driven by 2 Asians. We will see this evening… this is what we are here for. By the way, we encountered our first ‘problem’ with the car when the tyres were low on air-pressure. Unlike us in Msia & SG, the airpumps are not at the fuel stations. We had to go to a tyre-workshop in Gjirocaster near the border with Greece.
I managed to get help from some Albanian chaps. Good people…we communicated in Arabic. Subsequently… we had to withdraw cash for many merchants here at the border do not have card machines. Attached thumbnail(s)

The Renault vehicle then flashed a warning signal. We referred to the manual in Serbian language and discovered that after pumping air into the tyres, the Tyre Pressure Monitoring Gauge (TPMS) needs to be reset to reflect the new pressure.

Next stop : To the Lake Tesort at Shkodra Lake, on the Montenegro side. This lake has an international border cutting across it, making Albania and Montenegro sharing this lake.

Exited Albania yesterday and Entered Montenegro… a bit packed at the border-crossing but no problems at all with the border police.
Decided to stay in a fishing village in Montenegro for a change…. Morning view now from my studio window… The shots shown yesterday in above inputs were captured during the boat-trip when the boatsman explained birds migratory patterns to us. As like every other lakes, Shkodra Lake has a very large number of bird species living there. Really loved this bird observation activity… this beats the countryside tour on horseback in Albania hands-down… Attached thumbnail(s)

Rain stopped at 8 pm. Decided to go for a drive at Podgorica, the capitsl city of Montenegro.
Saw the main streets, the Millenium Bridge and the Old Town. Drove thru the Old Town since it was already late. In many old towns in Europe, visitor cars are not allowed in. The streets were narrow …. If one car was to come into the lane, heading in the opposite direction, one of us had to reverse our car back out all the way. Look at the 3 video clips. By now, after having driven many places in this region, we have gotten used to driving thru these lanes. Edited by adding ; I’ve just looked back at the 3 clips and now, I’m of the opinion these lanes are really easy to navigate. The ‘killing ones’ were at Castellamere, Italy and at the Ali Pasha Bridge Viewing Point in Albania. These two came to mind. Let’s continue. The drive from the Montenegroan Exit Point to the Serbian Entry Point was more than 5 mins, which is odd for a neutral zone.

We wanted to experience staying in the Serbian mountains… log-cabins. Unfortunately, I couldn’t upload the video clips of the insides, tho’ my clips were only 10 secs & 11 secs long for the downstairs & the upstairs respectively.

We will drive to Belgrade tomorrow, a 4.5 hr drive. Visited a masjid today too…. Friday prayers were being conducted inside.

At the Nikola tesla Airport at belgrade yesterday… for the flight back to Munich…. Unlike other airports I’ve been to, the airport ristorante here serves quite good food…

Back to Asia….
Wanted to show the cabin of the Etihad aircraft but I couldn’t upload the 6- and 7- sec clips…. Hence, I’ll just show the makan. Munich to Abu Dhabi here…The boarding gate for the onward journey from Abu Dhabi to KL is displayed on the tv terminal. Managed to upload the cabin clips this time under Editing. I’ll comment that the Mid-East flights all look the same to my eyes. One that looks different was the Air China one… with it’s ‘wood look’, what do they call it ?? AUH - KUL, using IATA Codes now…
The shower room looks ok… I’ve seen better ones, but the water pressure here is low. Silly….. didn’t take cabin clips anymore… all looks similar to me. Getting tired to do this. Needed to monitor always,… the time that affects my family…. Attached thumbnail(s)
