ICE cars probably win in DIY-friendliness and parts availability.
EVs shift the equation though, with fewer moving parts, less regular servicing, and software updates replacing some mechanical fixes.

Went to Sunway Zeekr but disappointed only X and 009 displayed. No sign of 7x

what is that 1 year connected service, is it need to pay in year 2 and onwards? why not G6 or Model Y?

Usually how fast will you go for? Me during 20s~30s use to drive 160km/j the most, now already 43 the most 120km/j 😅

Based on my reading/understanding

Mileage
100kW NCM battery > projected to retain 80% charge after 2000 full charging cycle
WLTP 615km > 80% of WLTP range = 492km (615 x 0.8)

Take 450km per full charge and that would mean 450,000km (at 1,000 charge cycle) and 900,000km (at 2,000 charge cycle) for battery to stay above 80% health.

In terms of longevity, think I previously read somewhere that Malaysia car drives about 20,000km per year on average.
So one could probably expect the battery's usable life to be roughly about 22–45 years under typical usage patterns?

Feel free to chip in if the aforementioned assumptions are wrong.

Summary on the projected cost per kWh based on what I read thus far:
As of 2025, $120–$135 per kWh. For 100 kWh battery > $12,000–$13,500
By 2030, $50–$90 per kWh. For 100 kWh battery > $5,000–$9,000

I think the AWD version has a top speed of 210km/h. Not sure about the other 2 variants. Anyone can confirm?

Zeekr to be locally assembled in Tanjung Malim soon

Zeekr vehicles to be locally assembled in Tanjung Malim in the near future as yet another major project within the Automotive High-Tech Valley (AHTV). This was revealed during the launch of Proton’s new EV plant today.

Zeekr so far has launched several models in Malaysia, including Zeekr X electric SUV and Zeekr 009 electric MPV, which made their way here last year. Just last month, the company expanded its offering in our market by launching the Zeekr 7X.

Not to forget, Zeekr has also set up a new National Sales Company specially for Malaysia back in June.

Details regarding Zeekr’s completely knocked down (CKD) assembly in Tanjung Malim are rather scarce at the moment. The only details that we know so far are that it is made possible through the partnership between Proton and Geely, which is also the parent company of Zeekr.

Despite that, there is no confirmation whether the CKD operation will take place in Proton’s new EV plant or Zeekr’s own facility. In addition to that, today’s announcement did not reveal when the CKD operation will start and what models will be involved.

Aside from Proton and Zeekr, BYD has also announced its plan to open a CKD factory in Tanjung Malim. Meanwhile, the Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park, which is located at the nearby Beringin High-Tech Auto Valley in Lembah Beringin, is expected to be operational next year.

Sometimes I need that adrenaline rush so I’d drive close to 200. But 97% of the time I’m just cruising at 90 to 110 km/h.

Wait 6 months, price will drop by 20k easily. Early adopters always pay full price.

New Zeekr 7X EV outputs 784hp and has up to 802km range

The new Zeekr 7X will have cruising ranges of 600 km, 620 km, 715 km, 770 km, and 802 km, according to a recent filing by the Chinese MIIT. The updated model features a more powerful electric motor and a larger battery pack capacity while the exterior design remains largely unchanged from the current model.

For reference, the current Zeekr 7X has three trims on the market with a price range of 229,900 to 269,900 yuan (32,300 to 37,900 USD), offered in RWD and AWD.

The new Zeekr 7X measures 4825/1930/1666 mm (l/w/h), with a wheelbase of 2925 mm, consistent with the current model. The curb weight ranges from 2,280 kg to 2,470 kg.

In terms of intelligent driving, the roof is mounted with a lidar. Zeekr previously announced that some models of the new Zeekr 7X will be equipped with the Nvidia Thor-U chip to realize advanced driving assistance features such as high-speed NOA, city NOA, and multi-scenario assisted parking.

The optional configurations include three rim sizes: 19-inch, 20-inch, and 21-inch, as well as a variety of rim styles, red brake calipers, and a retractable tow hook. The specific towing capacity has not yet been announced.

The new Zeekr 7X will be available in RWD and AWD, but with more powerful electric motors and a larger battery pack capacity. The RWD is equipped with a 370 kW (496 hp) electric motor, while the AWD is equipped with an additional 215 kW (288 hp) front motor. The two battery capacity options of 103 kWh and 75 kWh deliver cruising ranges of 802/770/715 km and 600/620 km, respectively.

At the same time, it is worth mentioning that the official has previously announced that some models of the new Zeekr 7X will be equipped with a 900V system.

In comparison, the current RWD has a 310 kW (416 hp) and 440 Nm electric motor, while the AWD comes with an additional 165 kW (221 hp) front motor, combined with 75 kWh lithium iron phosphate and 100 kWh ternary lithium battery packs. The CLTC cruising ranges are 605 km, 705 km, and 780 km.
