Hi everyone I have a 2007 Myvi SE 1ST gen It has two issues that my mechanic is baffled + can't fix . Wanna seek advice from all here
1. My car makes a ticking sound when idle 2. If I let my car parked under hot afternoon for long hours , when I go start it , it takes long time to crank start

1. My car makes a ticking sound when idle 2. If I let my car parked under hot afternoon for long hours , when I go start it , it takes long time to crank start For issue 1 I have video audio recording of it
since is 1st gen myvi. Possibility can be from these, since you mentioned it's hard to start during the hot afternoon. Normally such issue wont related to the engine oil, ATF oil, all the coolant etc. It is rather more on mechanical parts that need to operates the moment you cranck your engine.
Suspected parts, from what i see lah bro.
1) Fuel Pump – If it has not been replaced for a long period, it is a likely cause, as weak pumps struggle to maintain fuel pressure when hot. (Estimated cost: RM400+ for OEM)
2) Starter Motor (Heat Soak) – With age, the starter’s brushes and solenoid wear out. This often results in normal cold starts but harder starts once the engine bay is heat-soaked. (Estimated-RM350–450 for replacement).
3) Crankshaft Position Sensor – Quite a common problem in older Myvi or some Proton Campro models like gen2 back then. Normally when hot, the sensor signal weakens, causing prolonged cranking before the engine fires up. (Estimated cost: RM300++).
Try to send to different mechanic for a diagnosis

First thing wanna ask is how much total mileage of car?
1. My car makes a ticking sound when idle
Wear and tear sound. This is considered normal. Problem is myvi valve clearance cannot be adjusted easily. There are no screws like most engines. It uses a cylinder shaped shim. And need to take out a lot of things to adjust it. Very not economical.
Can solve this by using expensive engine oil. Yes this may sound stupid, but it really does work. Original Perodua oil cannot solve the ticking noise. Mechanic recommended Liqui Moly to solve it. But that cost RM170 or more depending on variants. I try and buy something in between. Toyota 5/30 GF6A engine oil. This cost RM 138 per can. Metal can from spare parts seller. I dare not buy online. After 3 oil changes 30000kmn total, the ticking noise has reduced a lot. But if you could spare at least 1 time to use expensive engine oil to solve this, it might be worth it.
Or just live with it. Just not worth to dissasemble engine to solve ticking noise because it would affect oil gaskets that would leak if not replaced.
2. If I let my car parked under hot afternoon for long hours , when I go start it , it takes long time to crank start
I would look at Spark plug. Change the cheapest one first which are spark plugs. If you can just ask shop to service throttle body. Probably RM100 to clean throttle body. (Not just spray with cleaner, but disassemble and clean) Spark plugs is less than RM100 if normal ones. So you are looking at RM200-250 for this.
After you changed spark plugs, pump only Petronas fuel only for at least 1 month. Drive little bit aggressive than normal. Add fuel injector cleaner if needed. Can use Liqui Moly fuel injector cleaner around RM40 more or less.
There are fuel filter in Myvi. So clogged injector is the highest suspect.
Most cars hard to start problem is usually spark plug or injector related. Worst case would be the ignition coil that might need replacement Or fuel not enough pressure. That means fuel pump is failing. Both these are the expensive to repair parts wise if you use genuine.
Also can ask mechanic to check if there are corrosion in fuse box.
