My front disc brake pad , clocking in 50k mileages.
Recently hand itchy cleaning the wheel tires and open up the screw and look into the brake pad.

How u guy measures the brake pad depth?
I measure from the central groove, the orange line and it is 4mm, or shall i use the measurement from the yellow line?

Btw i just bought metal king. Thk of changing it later.

When the V notch is gone, it is time to change the brake pads. From the looks of it, still have 50% left.

I don't bother to check physically on pad itself.

When you car is new or you just change brake pad, the brake fluid is at Max position. Once the level goes down to Min, you know that the brake pad is about to be replaced. The pad probably good for many km perhaps. I just change since it is not that expensive for my MyVi laugh.gif

When you change brake pad, the brake fluid is still in the brake closed system. When replacing the pads, brake piston is pushed back and the brake fluid level will go up again to F or H. If it is slightly less, then just top up a bit to serve as new monitoring indicator biggrin.gif

The brake fluid change I think is not by mileage but time based. Some recommend once a year and some every two years. You can flushed it any time you want and it is not labor intensive procedure which may be completed in half an hour perhaps.

Me? My MyVi follows service schedule of 40k KM for brake fluid change but I've not change the brake pad yet as far as I remember since it is not under scheduled service I think. On my older car after scheduled service, I did not change brake fluid even more than 2 years. Yes, people said not good, said carbon deposit whatever. Sometime I just cahgned when I remembered that I did not changed it for so long laugh.gif Don't follow me smile.gif

Just buy brake fluid tester and test your self. that is the best indicator, very cheap in shopee/lazada. Really depends on how and where your drive, if always drive in area which is high in humidity like seaside, side river the brake fluid tester i tested 1 year also fail already and need change, some driven on normal roads around 2 years before showing fail in the tester. Do take note, Malaysia consider very high humidity country as we got rain most of the time and by logic it is way faster than the manufacturer recommendation date (usually 2 years or 20k) to change. The brake fluid tester test the water moisture in the brake fluid, if water moisture detected over certain % it will declare as fail and need to change.
