Been noticing that the Airbnb scene in Malaysia is very rojak — some units are run super professionally, like proper hotels, while others can be a total nightmare (dirty, no support, or simply not as advertised 😅).

So I thought of starting this thread for us to share:

1. Who are the reliable Airbnb operators in Malaysia?

Those who are consistent with cleanliness

Provide good communication & fast response

Transparent pricing (no surprise charges)

Easy check-in/out process (self check-in or even 24/7 support)

2. What makes them reliable to you?

Do you prefer individual hosts (personal touch) or professional operators (hotel-style with team & reception)?

Any operators that really impressed you?

3. Any bad experiences to avoid?

Hosts who ghost you after check-in problems?

Units not matching the photos?

Overpriced service with no quality?

Let’s build up a list here so travelers, property owners, and even future hosts can know who’s trustworthy. Reliable operators deserve the recognition, and the bad ones… well, at least people can be aware before booking.

Operator must be the owner of the property .... ex homestay operator. Airbnb super hosts for 5 consecutive years and Bookings.com Traveller Review Awards for 3 consecutive years.

When I book homestay, I only look for owners' operator. They take pride in their ratings. One genuine complaint, rating drop heavily.

Bad exp with 'professional' operators run by foreigners 😡
