After lawyer settle the outstanding payment , they told me to go to tnb/sains to manually close account .
Both utilities bill under her name , the probate doesn’t mention about the utilities

How can I close this , can it be done submitting thru online ?
Anyone here can share experience ?

you may need to go to TNB to settle it.
Closing would not be an issue, bring the SNP to show the transaction. and maybe the death certificate.
The deposit will send to her, but she is not here anymore. NOt sure what will happen to the Deposit

In most cases, when a buyer is the new owner of the property, he will proceed to make an application to utility co for a new account.

As for the the previous owner's account, the utility co will auto 'close' the account after a new application is made and deduct whatever outstanding bill from the deposit. Any balance will then be deemed unclaimed money and forwarded to the govt if there is no action from the previous owner or his estate.

If the utility co allows U to close the account based on the death cert, then is good but definite they won't release the balance deposit without the correct documents.

If you intend to close the account and to claim the deposit, you have to refer to the lawyer that handle your probate application. Possible there will be fees and charges applicable.

The next Q is how much is the outstanding deposit due to the account holder, if any, versus the lawyer's fees and charges ?

On the unlikely scenario but it do happened, if the new owner doesn't make a new application to the utility co, then he will continued to received connections. If he pays the bill monthly, then nothing happens, similar to a tenant when the utility account is under the landlord 😀

You can close but refund under deceased name...

Can use lawyer services to deal but the deposit $$$ is worth the hassle??? With the additional fee incurred....
