I'm really surprised you're getting some actual advice in this thread TS... really. Malaysians have a thing about never ever taking pills no matter what because they're "not natural", but here you're really getting some advice. There's still 1 or 2 that chime in with the "pills are bad" routine, but over all this thread is pretty good.
There are some over-the-counter things that are real effective that you can ask for.
Polaramine = ask for it at your pharmacy. Around RM2 per slip. Take 1 for a very light effect, 2 for an average effect. Do not take more than 2.
Atarax = someone mentioned this already. Cost 10 ringgit I think? Takes a while to start working... need to take it 1 or 2 hours before you sleep. And yes it does keep working after you wake up, which sucks.
Promethazine = Now this... THIS... is the best OTC medicine there is in Malaysia! Pronounced "Pro - Meth - Uh - Zeen". Only a few pharmacies carry the pill version... there's one pharmacy in Hatas Square right beside Ampang Hospital that you should definitely check out if you want this. The pharmacist there is a friend of mine, and she keeps this one in stock. Only a few other pharmacies carry this, and it's always in liquid form, which for some reason is just less effective for me. The Hatas Square pharmacy has the pills.
GABA = Gama Amino Butyric Acid... while you cant find this one in Malaysia, it is something you can order from the internet. It's safe to take 1 of these along with one of the other 3 listed here to make those more effective. No drug interactions, no side effects. GABA is made by your body already, so this counts as a "natural substance" no matter what anybody tells you.
Hope that helps.
