QUOTE(xandman @ Nov 14 2007, 07:26 AM) yea.. first you need jabber account.Download PSI, install and create a new jabber account. After you created, then go Service Directory and select msn or yahoo service. Type your ym or msn account. After that, open ichat and create a new account, select jabber and type in your jabber account. That's it.. Now you can chat with your ym or msn friends. More detail in here |

You can also use your google account. Does video works if I were to chat with another user using google account via iChat?

from my personal experience, i disliked the way ichat works with msn through jabber. Its no different from using Adium. Video and audio are stilll not supported.
if i were you, its not worth going through the hassle. YM or Adium would be a good choice until office 2008 comes out and we see what they have installed in the new microsoft messenger for mac. Maybe they might allow video conferencing in the new release. |

Well, it's quite an experience, but not nice. I can stick with Adium. because it's easier to set up. but just in case you want to try.
msn.jabber.cd.chalmers.se The jabber australia is not available yet for this kind of thing. and yup. video chat and calling is not available. i doubt in the future will be. Stick to those like Skype, well, lame but it works. |

Speaking of video chat, the only application that seems to work cross platform at the moment is Skype.
Yahoo offers video, but there's no audio. Spent quite a bit of time finding the options. What the hell were they thinking? Why bother? Kinda defeats the purpose of video conferencing in the first place no? As for other IM needs, I use Adium. Love the customization. |
