I saw quite a lot of m340i on sale on xhs, most of them are only used for like 1-2 years. I wonder if M340i has any unbearable known issues? any m340i owners here, can give any feedbacks on this. thanks in advance.

Mine Sep 2024, so far no issue. Typical issues like leak and all will come after 100,000km.

I think any conti also same, most after warranty period will start to leak either coolant or engine oil.
At least 340i is not hybrid, if not even more things to worry. laugh.gif

This is with B58 engine-it is a very reliable work-horse.

of course, BMW does come with its traits of issue.... just that local mechanics are pretty familiar with it- they can provide a solution quick ( might not be cheap compare to japanese car, but 50% of from BMW itself)

Even now- the hybrid system of mild hybrid or PHEV also they can "delete" off

yes- for now 5 figures, perhaps still new and not many doing.
like iphone repair/change battery last time.

Expensive- but it is an option compare to the more expensive repair ba.

If im buyer, better buy ICE straight. Spend 5 figures cash for conversation, afraid system not matured yet, hence niggles issue along the run

if it is quite stable without any unsolvable issues. then i assume maybe the owners feel how heavy it is financially, then decided to let go after owning it for couple of years?

I owned a 2023 M340i for almost 2 years now and never once did it cross my mind to sell it.

I think most people purchase this car and let it go within 1–2 years because:
1) It’s not lightweight or ideal as a proper touge car.
2) Get bored after 1–2 years.
3) They bought it just to “try the B58 life” and move on.
4) Some just chasing that ownership high.. get in, mod a bit, and then flip it before depreciation kicks in.

For me, it’s still one of the best bang-for-buck performance sedans around.. Comfy enough for daily, yet still puts a smile when I floor it. Solid all-rounder.

Or could it be they jump to EV, cz i saw many G30 owners who letgo theirs 530i, said brought Tesla or other EV. Most said they started to bleed oil at year 6 onward, which is expected from Bmw or Conti, which need to spend some for seal changing, waterpump change to a better materials etc

Yes, my mechanic also told me better to just find 1 half-cut with the ICE engine system transplant and sell the hybirds components off even better.

1 or 2 years cars are most likely demo cars or used as courtesy cars but usually it is a good grab as the selling price already include all the depreciation and usually cheaper than the market value.

The B58 is one of the proven engines. So far, no issues for me. However, G20 will have the usual tie rod krok-krok issue. Which I think is a small problem, you can always send in SC for a warranty claim.

If you are looking for a 2nd hand unit, make sure to do PPI and ask SC to scan the ECU to see if it has been tuned before, because I would say most M340i will be tuned.
