The first one is fresh because of visual, but that alone is not enough for me. The plot is as old as Christopher Columbus already. The 2nd and this new one is just here to milk on the first movie.

To me, it was cos it was shown in 3-D. This movie started the craze for 3-D movies which eventually died a natural death. I was not impressed with the movie actually, hence I skipped 2nd one and likely skipped the latest.

Kesian James Cameron really think people desperate to watch multiple parts of this movie? Lagi mau buat sampai Avatar 6-7.

Back then part 1 still hype and new, but after a decade or so, nowadays even video games graphic and storyline have surpassed movies.

This video explains it well, it's not that cgi is getting worse, it's just that cgi is used so extensively in everything now, plus tight deadlines until vfx studios are stretched thin manpower wise



Last time avatar 1 also had lots of practical effects, those cockpit and robot shots are practical, thats why the vfx still holds up today
