I'm 32 with just SPM. Which course that you recommend for me to take at GMI?

I'm starting a new chapter in life but I've been out of the loop for a long time, and need guidance from experienced people here.

I've decided to shelved my business idea because it's not a good idea to have a friend as a partner, plus I lacked the skills to do the job.

Thanks 🙏

Thanks for the response. I've decided to do part time studies at UTM Space and work as a delivery driver while at it.

just do full time grab until you graduate. kpj captures my interest. just find something with a degree instead of just diploma.

You might be able to do a degree as a mature student, only need SPM. Check out some Uni / College.

On the dip courses, sustainable energy and autotronics sounds interesting. Also Machine Tools Maintenance and Cybersecurity. Sustainable energy may offer work in Solar related, may become installer later. Autotronics - more electronics in cars, so also possible jobs, own mechanic shop. Tools maintenace got jobs, even robots need maintenance. Cybersecurity - just read lowyat know how bad internet can be.

Because it's close to where I'm staying.

I don't know what I'm gonna study. It's hard to choose the right one.

Choose accordingly the type of work you interested in or would like to get into, then from there you can filter what would you like to study

Yeah that's a great idea. I think I'll do part time studies. Work as a delivery driver and study part time.

I've decided on IT. Will do part time instead and work as delivery driver while at it. Takes longer to finish but at least I'll graduate.

Nothing to advice on your course of choice thou

Only advice is to power through it, don't give up half way on your choice of course no matter how hard the going is and the focus is to graduate

Since you will be a mature student, don't fool around as time and financial is essential too because you will be having a late start comparing to your peers

Good time to network as much as you can

Strive for good grades so that you are able to seek scholarships/loans during the course of your studies to lessen your financial burdens

Financial burdens are actually one of the main cause for lots to drop out of their studies

Good luck!

don't need to do part time i think most courses are like 40 credit hour week, sometimes lower. you should still have like 8 hours for sleep, 8 hours to do whatever you want. juggle those times. part time will just make it too long to complete your studies.

Go work and study at the same time .... where and what ? ... Sell / Rent properties. Take the real estate course and open your own agency in the future.

Is tough ya. Life is never easy unless your parents are rich.

From former students, they said mostly still locals. Much like BMI. Don’t expect to see too many Brits running around that place. 😄

AI, Robotics n automation r taking over many jobs. The 1st batch would be white collar jobs n yet universities r churning millions of them. Ironically IT jobs r among the 1st affected. Next affected would be jobs like salesman when people can buy everything online with AI guidance.
For the time being better learn some trades like plumber, electrician n especially nurse.

half of your life is already burn already, education dont open door on career, everyone is in the same boat doing the same rat race repeat non stop. most people learn thru your employer biz that you been working for the last 10 year. and some of these industry is not making money. and GMI cannot help you, they serve as introduction what exist in the market. it does not increase your pay, it does not open biz opportunity . yes you can join GMI just for knowledge only.

there are two path way . masuk company and x2 for that company ( i believe you tak boleh), then 2nd option is go masuk company work for 5 diferent company in 1 year. then learn from it. then start your own biz.
if backup biz money you also dont have, then save money till 200k or 300 and above then do your own biz. by copying other

I'll take that into account.

Maybe I'll just focus on my delivery driver job.
And later start my own business. Currently learning the skills required for my business idea (building tinting, curtains and blinds). I'm looking for a job within my idea.

with the emergence of AI, i don't think it's a good idea to go into IT at your age. most interviewers might assume you're just another vibe coder.

unless you work really hard on your foundation, prove you can understand and apply the theory and algorithms etc. it's probably gonna take you bunch of interviews to secure a job.
