I plan to use Proxmox VE to configure RAID for my drives.

As a beginner, my initial plan was to configure 4 drives in RAID 5, so I purchased 4 × 8TB drives. Later now, I plan to buy another 4 × 12TB drives, bringing the total to 8 mixed-size drives. Given this setup, what type of RAID would be most suitable for my situation?

Need some help on this...

From what I googled you can use ZFS zpool with 2 vdevs in it, each vdev of the 4 drives with same capacity in RAIDz1.

Or 2 zpools each with the 4 drives with same capacity.
